Bader House of Plano not only changed my father’s life but gave me back some of mine. My father has Alzheimer’s and we had been in 3 prior facilities , he was declining and I was an exhausted wreck. My goals were to give him a place to be cared for with kindness, skill, and empathy and to be treated with dignity. Bader House does all of these things consistently when the others could not. The staff is professional and caring. The director is efficient and empathetic. The nurse [name removed]is THE BEST, she is on top of all of my Dad’s care. The entire staff [names removed], and the rest I consider family. Bader House is exceptional!

My mom has been a resident of The Bader House in Plano since June 2022. It is a wonderful, compassionate home for those who need extra support and care as a result of Alzheimer's Disease. When my Dad and I sat down with the team, the first thing that was said is that "we take care of the developmental needs of those with AD." As a lifelong educator, those words gave me great assurances. There's not enough space here to share all the ways they meet resident's developmental needs. The worst part of Mom's AD has been when she felt scared. At the Bader, she is content, calm, and happy. They are constantly providing activities and guests entertainers from musical performers to a magician. The residence is relatively small with about 24 guests making it feel like a home environment. When I brought Mom to Bader, the director said to me, that my mom now has a full team of caregivers, and I could return to my role as daughter full-time. After two years those words have held true. Grateful!

We had a very positive tour experience with The Breckinridge. The staff were all very friendly. We were looking for a facility that had more of a home-like feeling to it, and this was just not the right fit.

The Breckinridge is fantastic. For those with advanced dementia, this is one of the best places you could have your loved one. Their staff is dementia trained, whereas at other places that say they provide memory care, that may not be the case. The Breckinridge's staff are certified dementia care specialists.

We recently moved my mother from another memory care facility to The Breckinridge. The difference is truely amazing. Here they cater to the residents and their needs, not like other facilities that try to fit them into their mold. Everyone is so kind and caring, you can really tell they love each and every resident. The peace of mind I now have that my mother is happy and cared for has lifted a weight off my shoulders. Thanks to The Breckinridge I can now be her daughter again.

I would tell others that this is the best place to take a loved one. My loved one was not happy anywhere, until they got to The Breckinridge. The staff knew how to care for my loved one and keep them calm.

This is a smaller home but has enough long time staff that assist each other as well as each resident. They are very attentive to the resident’s needs, they eat alongside the residents and check on the residents at various times of the day. They love the residents as if they were their own family. When my loved one was in the hospital the nurse remarked as how well the skin was taken care of indicating there was no signs of bedsores or any other breakdown of the skin. For those who can they are to walk around not only inside but also on the grounds. Very happy my love one is here!

The Breckinridge was our second pick for Mom. We decided against it because it was too expensive.

We brought my uncle to The Breckinridge in May 2015 from another facility where he had spent less than 4 months and was constantly being "sent out" (meaning he would be sent to a psychiatric hospital for approx 5 days for his meds to be adjusted). This was not good for his overall health as it upset and confused him greatly. He had no idea why the trips to strange places in the middle of the night. His ankles swelled from constant pacing because of the confusion. Finding The Breckinridge was like opening the door to Heaven! He could roam outdoors on pretty days over the three acre backyard which he thought was his own. No alarms would sound as he entered or exited any of the three doors to the beautifully landscaped garden of Eden. They were usually kept together as a group as they watched movies on a big screen, or played games or trivia in the dining room. The meals were downhome southern comfort type and family was welcomed to join their loved one for a meal. In seven months' time my uncle gained 15# and 4" in his pants and I had to go shopping for bigger pants. He thrived at Breckinridge. In the 15 months he spent here never once were we called to come settle him down, or to come because they couldn't manage his behavior. Another huge benefit was the resident doctor who came weekly and kept a check on all the residents. No outside appointments were necessary as lab work, changes in meds were all done in-house. Management and staff were the best and there was very low turnover so residents got to know the staff well and they became family. I can't say enough good about The Breckinridge, only that no other facility can compare to it. Family can visit and leave with confidence that their loved one is being well cared for and treated with love and respect. No worries!

They are just awesome! I cannot even think of enough words to adequately describe them. Everyone, from the directory, to the maintenance staff, to the care staff, etc all do wonderful. I would highly recommend The Breckinridge to anybody! I think that other places need to take lessons from them. They do a great job caring for Alzheimers patients. The atmosphere is very open, warm, and just all around nice and pleasant. Everything about it is just awesome@

This community has an atmosphere that is more like a home atmosphere. The people are very friendly and compassionate with the residents. I love the fact that they have doors that open at the top so that they can check on the residents hourly.

The reason that I chose The Breckenridge was because the residents are able to go outside into a green space that is an acre large, it is all trees and green grass rather than concrete. They are allowed to go in and out as they please but it is secure. None of the other places that I visited had this set up. All of the rooms here are private, they have 18 residents so it is a smaller community which I love. The only issue with it being smaller is it is harder to get visitation times, especially on the weekends. You really are not forced to participate in anything that you do not want to do which is great for him since he is so laid back. It is a good fit for my husband because it is so quiet.

My husband has been at The Breckinridge for only a few weeks, but I am already sure that he's in the right place. The meals are wholesome and tasty, the staff friendly and helpful, and the care for residents is top notch. The nurse called me yesterday to let me know that my husband had fallen during the night but was okay. (As a Parkinson's patient, he has had many falls.) I appreciate her letting me know. His medications are given on time. A doctor who keeps an eye on the residents has called to check on certain medicines that he questioned. All of these facts impress me, and I'm so pleased that our son and I decided on The Breckinridge.

Beautiful facility. Always shorthanded. Couldn't keep a head nurse. Went thru several while we were there. Last nurse they hired was a nurse named [name removed]. At Christmas, let huge amounts of family members in to be with loved one. Of course Covid swept thru the whole facility. My husband passed away with Covid the following January.

Most of the time when we came to visit the residents were sitting around watching tv or in their rooms. The MD wouldn't listen to our concerns/wants. Our LO was placed on some serious meds and had never taken any before. Our LO was accused of "aggression." There was no history of aggression. The bedrooms are unlocked throughout the day so they wander around into places they shouldn't be. They insisted LO needed an inpatient psychiatric admission. At that point we went to go pick up our LO and their belongings because we were fed up. We wrote to administration and sent certified about our concerns but no reply. Turnover is ridiculous. Staff would leave without explanation. The admissions dir. is now at another facility, too. Thankfully, we found a facility where LO is happy and well cared for. No heavy meds or need for a psych facility. For the $XXXX [amount removed] monthly rate at Bader you definitely do not get what you pay for. It's a beautiful facility but that means nothing if the care is subpar.
