I have been here for six months and have felt very welcome since the first day. Everyone on the staff has been very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities to participate in and the meals are very good. There is also an extensive library for those of us who like to read.

Lack of Supervision
The owner was very nice and seemed to genuinely care about my aunt. Some of the staff didn't do a great job, in my opinion. When our family member came home she was in a dirty, saggy depends. Since she only dribbled, I would say no one checked if she changed it in at least a week. Her clothes and belongings were always going missing, some we never got back (including eye glasses that she needed) and we would find her wearing clothes that weren't hers. We paid extra for medication management and would find pills strewn all over her room when we visited. When we finally brought her home after a couple of months I found half of a sandwich bag of prescription medication in different places around her room. I feel for the care she got, I could have locked her unsupervised in an apartment and checked on her a could of times a day and she wouldn't have gotten much worse care. When I told the owner about these things he apologized but said they could only suggest she take her medications and wash and change, they couldn't make her. I was very disappointed and moved her somewhere where she got much better care and was happy until she passed away. I wish I could give a better review but I expected better care from a 5 star rated facility that I was paying almost $7500 a month to.

Very supportive and caring
This is an easy rating for me... The Blaire house gets a 5 rating in each of the 7 categories. I must also share the sad news also that my mom passed away less than 3 months after joining the Blaire house, and most of that was in the medical care section of the facilities there or at the end, in Milford hospital. Nevertheless the Blaire team was exceptionally supportive and caring to both mom and my sister and as well. Our only regret is that Mom did not have enough time at Blaire as we all would have liked.

Great community just not for someone with extra needed care
We gave the overall experience 3 stars because they said they could handle my brother's needs but in the end I had to move him again to their skilled nursing facility. He has dementia and every time I move him it scares him and takes more out of him. Blaire House is lovely and clean. Food is good too. Very friendly staff and caring. They try but we're not able to meet my brother's needs. I had to hire more help at times to stay with him. Very good food. I wouldn't know as my brother did not participate. Other than meals and someone making sure he took his meds, I was paying double what he paid at[community name removed]. Although not the same AS vs. IL, we paid additional for everything else! Although Blaire wasn't for my brother, it was great for someone who doesn't need a ton of care. I never toured the Memory Unit so I cannot say much about it.

As close to home as we could get
It is definitely a family owned and family run atmosphere and we love that. We do not feel like my dad is just another person or number. [name removed] the intake coordinator knew everyone on my dads floor by their first name and it is things like that that really stuck out to us when we were here touring. He has been acclimating well and they are great about keeping in contact with us if there are any questions or concerns. They have been very responsive and accommodating to any needs that we have had. The gal who runs the kitchen has talked to us and are trying their hardest to get dad to eat since he is a picky eater. Any concerns we have had they address immediately. I would absolutely recommend Blaire House to others. It definitely feels like one big family.

A Safe Place for Your Loved One
This is a very good community for our loved one. The biggest drawback for us is the distance from family. The staff communication with the family is very good. The community is clean, and the Executive Director really tries. There are activities for the residents to choose from.

Review of Blair House
I was sent to Blair House by a hospital in the summer of 2020 so that I could handle having to walk up the stairs to my third-floor apartment. It was during Covid, so I had a full room to myself and went outside to see my guests. The nursing staff was very good at rewrapping my wounded leg. The physical therapists were great at working up my strength little by little, until I was able to climb stairs well enough to go home. I am very thankful that I was sent here!

Unhappy Daughter
There are good points and bad. But I really have to keep after them about everything. They don't clean my loved one's room thoroughly, even after I bring it up to them. He does enjoy the socialization with his buddies at mealtimes. And that's what's most important to me, how he's feeling. He likes the staff, and they try to encourage him to do activities. In memory care, they tell you they don't really provide care - instead they give cues. They ask if he wants a shower, and of course he says no. I've asked them to work on this and change how they word it, but most of them don't make the effort. I find the majority of the staff is lazy. They leave the floor unattended- there's nobody there. They play on their iPads and things. I'm very dissatisfied with that. They don't check his diapers. Apparently you have to pay a considerable amount extra for that. They're pretty good with activities. They have holiday events with decorations and bring out a cake. They have chair exercises right after breakfast. They close the facility to visitors off and on when people in the facility are sick. The elevator up to memory care broke a while ago, and they haven't fixed it. I was supposed to have a meeting with the nurse, and she brought in the owner, who talks with her hands and yells at you. I thought that was very inappropriate. It was like they were ganging up on me. Another of the owners has screamed at me on a different occasion. The place itself is lovely. It's clean in the public spaces and restrooms. But in my loved one's room, the sheets are soiled and not changed for weeks. If I ask them to, they'll change the sheets. But it's like they're lazy and don't care. His room is dusty, and his bathroom is not clean. A couple of the aides are lovely and concerned and pay attention to the residents. But the way the rest of them are, I get so discouraged. And I'm also disappointed that there are miscellaneous charges for "personal care" on the bill that they can't explain to me.

A very homey feeling place
We chose Blaire House of Milford Assisted Living because I got a gut feeling that this was the right place, I looked at 5 other places. I immediately knew that it was going to be a good fit. The room sizes are great, my mother has a suite with a big bedroom, living space, and private bathroom. The food could use some improvement, there is a lack of variety and the food is not very fresh and or appetizing. My favorite part about the community would be the atmosphere, it has a non-institutional feel. I would recommend the facility without any hesitation.

Blaire House Of Milford Assisted Living
Especially with the Covid-19 pandemic, they have done a great job protecting the residents. The staff is mostly pretty good. I have noticed especially during the middle of the day and after lunch, sometimes the residents are left in the activity room and are occasionally left with no staff to assist if something goes wrong. They do have activities available and have continued to during the Covid-19 pandemic and have been allowing residents to gather in small groups in the lunch room to take their meals.

Warm care, excellent communication
My father recently moved on to the Memory Care unit of Blaire House about 4 months ago. My Step-mother, who had fallen and broken her hip, was living in a skilled nursing setting. The plan was to move her to the nursing care unit at Blaire House so that they could be closer together. From the time my father arrived, he was given warm and supportive care. His goal in life was to spend time with or talk to his wife. The staff did what they could to help him with whatever transportation we could set up, and to keep him engaged in activities as much as possible when he couldn’t be with her. Unfortunately, my Step-mother passed of co-vid before they could be reunited. It was a particularly difficult time for our family because we live in Canada and could not cross the border to be with him. It was at this point that we felt the caring support of the family-owned Blaire House encircle him. [Name removed] , the director, spent time with him, as did other staff. They had the obituary printed and framed for him. The morning of the service, Dad was agitated because he couldn’t find a tie to wear. [Name removed] arrived at his room with a tie for him. [Name removed] took the time to take him to the cemetery for the graveside service, and took some pictures so that Dad would remember that he had been there, and had participated by leaving flowers. Since we are not able to care for him ourselves in our homes, I could not imagine a better place for him to be. [Name removed], admissions officer, helped us to organize the move and get him settled. [Name removed], the director of nursing, has made us feel like part of a team working together to make Dad’s life as meaningful as possible. Communication is particularly well done at Blaire House. During this co-vid crisis, [Name removed] has been clear in his e-mails to family about the status of residents and staff. This has helped to alert us to the potential dangers but also to reassure us that they were doing everything in their power to keep everyone safe. The staff also have a Facebook page where they regularly (3-4 times a week?) post pictures of residents involved in special activities, or just in regular fun. I always make a point of checking to see if Dad is shown. There are two pictures in particular that I cherish because they show my Dad just being my Dad – smiling, waving, holding up a sign saying what he is thankful for. I should also mention that the physical surroundings are lovely. Dad is very content in his studio apartment. He can’t always remember what he’s had for dinner, but he always knows that he enjoyed it. In summary, I would heartily recommend Blaire House’s Memory Care unit for a family member who needs a safe and structured environment. I thank them for their care and concern for my father and my family.

Caring and Cmpassion
My father moved in to the Memory Care floor of assisted living in Eddie Pond Milford MA early in February. From our first contacts with [name removed], the Admissions manager, we have been treated with respect, care and compassion. Dad was met at the door when he arrived, and welcomed by staff. Acclimatizing to a new home has been a challenge for him. All of his daughters live out of the country and we can't always drip in, so it is particularly difficult for us to calm him when we talk to him on the phone and he is confused. Staff have been very good at responding to our phone calls day or evening. [Name removed] has gone in after his work hours to talk with him. We are so pleased with Blaire House, and are convinced that we have found the right place for him.

Great choice
I would recommend Blair House Assisted Living in Milford Mass to any of my family and friends. The apartments are very nice, the whole staff were wonderful to my Dad and to all who visited him even late when they had to stop what they were doing and let me in and out. The food was very good, the cook was so friendly and would make anything theat a resident wanted, not just what was planned for that meal. I left each visit with my Dad at ease and confident that my Dad was not only safe, but happy. My Dad was there short term after rehab, and is back in his own condo. He would choose to go there again if he ever needs an assisted living apartment.

I was happy to tour this community for my mom's care. We liked the staff who seemed to answer the questions that we had on the care that is available. The community was clean and we were able to see that they have a nice variety of meals. Activities are available for the residents who want to participate. We would recommend other families to tour this community for the care of a loved one.

I Highly Recommend
They are a wonderful community. Everything is great. It is small and new. It is a lovely place with a warm feeling. They have activities available and my aunt gets to volunteer. She raves about the people and the meals. She has gained weight from eating a more balanced meal. They also negotiated their prices, it has helped us out and they have a nursing home to transition into.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
