So far so good. Dad seems safe and happy. It's a small, kind community. The rooms are decent, bedroom has a queen bed comfortably and the living room has a couch and chair. Activities tend to be mostly cards and other games, and occasional performances especially around the holidays.

Very nice place to call home
Very clean, all staff that we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The front office staff bent over backwards to help us at a very difficult time for our family. Seriously great staff.

Tour experience
We were not impressed with the sales guy at Edencrest at Riverwoods. You could tell that he was all about the money. When we told him we would not be putting a deposit down, you could see him immediately shut down. We would not recommend them based off of our tour experience there.

Food needs improvement
We are having a little bit of an issue with the meals and dining service - first off the quality of the meals are just really bad and second off they strongly push for everyone to come down to the common area where they serve the good for every meal, if you do not want to go down there but still want a meal they charge you a stiff delivery fee. However they do seem to have a lot of different activities going on like bingo, entertainment after lunch and people come in to sing songs

Set Up Nicely
It is a good place to be for your loved ones. The way the community is set up is good. The rooms are roomy, the staff is nice, and it is clean.
The food was good.
If they would have had additional meal choices for the residents it would have been better.

Very unhappy
Edencrest at Riverwoods in Des Moines,Ia, the staff was not trained to take care of dementia people. They would yet me wife be wet for hours, would not give her shower, she would wear the same clothes for days, My wife loss 12 lbs. in the she was there, some of the aids would feed her or save her food. She had a black eye and a hip hard so bad her had to go to the hospital. The hospital doctor say looks like she was abused there. The Edencrest nurse say her does not what happen to her. I found my wife on the floor sleeping I ask how long has she been on the floor the aid said she there when came work, which at that time it was 3 hours.
Some of the aids are real nice but some wasn't.
I would not recommend that place for memory care at all. Other people that have family there would say if they could breath they would hire them. They are over payed and the kind of help you get.

Options for mom
We toured the community for mom's care. The staff was nice and the community was clean and maintained. We like that the staff was very kind and patient. Meals are offered that are healthy. We would suggest a tour for other families for the value and the levels of care that offered.

Awesome facility!

It's a very nice place
One of our family members did the tour for us at Edencrest and they did like the community, it was clean and spacious, the staff was friendly and they felt Edencrest had a lot to offer their residents.
Between the two we felt that Prairie Hills would be a better fit for my mother-in-law.

Care for family
I like the care that we had from this community. The staff was nice and friendly. They needed more staff members to be able to care for the residents. The community was clean and maintained. The staff needed to make sure that he had his personal needs to be taken care of.

Care and Comfort
This is a nice community for good care. The staff is pleasant. The meals are needing some small improvements lately. They offer a lot of activities that he is participating in and it is very helpful. They have a nice activities board to see what he is participating in. We would recommend this community for other families for the care of a loved one.

All around great community !!
All around this community has provided excellent care to my mother and I have been very pleased with her experience this far. She does not eat many of the meals because of her age but really likes the dinning experience and the interaction she has with the other residents. I really like the fact that they have multiple common areas with great amenities for her to relax throughout the day and not be stuck in her bedroom.
