Wonderful care takers!

My uncle was a resident there for a brief moment. I had wished he were there longer. The people who work there are truly kind to both the residents and their guests. I did not have to worry of him or if he were being cared for. They included everyone in every thing. The only downfall - which is partially my fault - was losing his items. I didn’t think to put his name on EVERYTHING. His clothes hamper, bed sheets, and some clothes were lost. LABEL EVERYTHING.

Great activities, clean and a very friendly staff.

The staff was great, especially Israel, he was so helpful!! Mom didn't really need a lot of care, she can do pretty much everything on her own. The room was clean and a great size for her. We were not very impressed by the personell giving or preparing medications. That is the most important thing they should get right. Not just for my mom, but everyone there. We were just glad mom knows what she takes and could let us know

Final destination

My loved one lives at gardens of Gainesville. He's been there almost a year. It's mostly clean, staff is kind, he likes the food, but doesn't join any of the activities. He's in independent living, but 95 years old. His apartment is a one bedroom and it's really too big for what he needs

I was very impressed with the overall condition of the facility and the amenities offered to residents. The rooms were spacious, the halls were bright and wide, and all of the common areas were fresh and inviting. I really like the Bistro and the courtyard area for a modern relaxation experience. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and the residents I encountered all seemed to be happy and engaged with the facility.

Experience with Gardens of Gainesville

The biggest positive, and the reason I’m comfortable having my mom here, is the staff. They have been wonderful with her, and I’m very grateful for the care and kindness they provide. That said, I do wish more attention and investment were given to the physical condition of the memory care area, particularly the side where my mom lives. The memory care doors are dirty, and her side has older carpet rather than the hard-surface flooring found on the other side. The carpet looks like it is badly in need of a professional cleaning or replacement. Her room itself is a nice size, especially with her hospital bed, and thankfully it has hard-surface flooring rather than carpet. There are also noticeable differences between the two sides of memory care. The other side has memory boxes outside each resident’s room, while my mom’s side does not. I would love to see both areas given the same level of attention and upgrades. My mom has been here since [date removed], and there is still a window air-conditioning unit in her room with tape around it while we have been told the HVAC is being repaired. I understand that repairs can take time, but this has been going on much longer than I would expect. When we initially moved her in, there was also paint left on the flooring from the room being painted. I ended up bringing paint-removal wipes from home and cleaning up as much as I could myself. Ultimately, the wonderful staff makes a tremendous difference, and their care for my mom allows me to overlook some of these issues. I just wish the facility would invest a little more in the appearance, cleanliness, and maintenance of this side of memory care so that both sides feel equally welcoming and well cared for. The residents and the excellent staff deserve that.

I love it here and try to make up for some of the problems that are present I wouldn't move. Apartments are very nice. They have different sizes at different rates to choose from. We have full kitchens and a washer and dryer in each apartment.

The staff is friendly. My loved one is on the independent side so there is not a lot of interaction with staff that I've been aware of during visits. The facility is going through staff changes. I know they currently have had positions available. The food is good mostly, but not big enough portions from what my loved one says. It's decently clean. Maybe it could stand a little more attention, but it's not horrible... overall I think it's good for the price!

The community is great. The interaction with the residents is also wonderful. My only concerns are with management. There is very little communication from management, and they are difficult to connect with. Would I recommend? Probably with the stipulation that new residents or family members have a detailed plan prior to move in.

[name removed] was a great guide. I enjoyed meeting [name removed] , the chef, and the food smelled amazing! The residents seemed to be enjoying the hair salon and the common areas. They were getting ready to celebrate Christmas with some of the staff’s children and seemed excited about that. My sister is taking our mom to tour today and we hope she likes it like I did. We are hopeful to connect with the Gardens for our mom and dad. We do need to explore the care offerings in more detail before we make final decisions.

Gardens of Gainesville is a lovely facility with all the amenities one could need. It has a number of floor plans from efficiency size to two bed two bath apartments,. The continuance of care is another positive. [name removed] is very knowledgeable, and you can tell she cares about the residents.

It started off well but we haven't been happy for a while. Quality of food is very poor and redundant. I had to throw away his Keurig coffee maker because it was cockroach infested. We fight bugs daily! It's disgusting. They were just bought out and the only communication with the new company is a 5% rent increase. They need to fix their issues before increasing rent. I would not suggest this facility to anyone right now.

I did NOT chose this facility for two reasons- THEY WILL NOT ME SEE OR VISIT MOM FOR 30 DAYS. I disagree and think that would be rather frightening for my mother. AND THEY DO NOT BRING GOD INTO ANY PART OF THE DAY, no daily devotions, no bible study, church involvement (coming to give service on Sunday or bring singers in to perform hymns), Bible trivia, inspirational stories, guest preachers, spiritual morning affirmations). It was nice, clean, great location, comparable monthly rates, people were kind.

Always short staff. Dad has gone 2 weeks with out a bath. Room goes two weeks with no cleaning. They have Dad in Pajamas when I ask them to get him dress to go out to eat. Happen several times. Washer broke twice in a year and we go for several weeks short on clean cloths. Think with the money they bring in that they would have more then one washer. Dyer broke last year and they didn't fix it right away. Some one end up using it and it caught on fire. The fire department came out. Dad has several times sitting in a wet diaper when I have came by. They weren't giving him water to drink. Until I raised coin. Now he has water, but sometimes no straw. There are 3 great nurses and the rest are so so and always short help.

Confirm all the details prior to move in day with the office staff. There did not seem to be a lot of communication between sales and the front office. Once you are in and established, things are good.

Stay Involved in loved ones care

Families really need to stay on top of their loved ones care. If a loved one needs a good amount of care and has cognitive issues but not severe enough for memory care then you probably want to find another facility.

Just what we needed!

We visited two others, one larger, and one smaller! This one just seemed right for him. Also it is located 5 minutes from our son, so it is convenient! One thing I can say is we are happy we chose the Gardens and he seems content. We feel blessed that the caregivers and staff are respectful to him, caring and compassionate and he is being provided safety and his needs are being met!

Review for Gardens of Gainesville

The apt was completely redone and a balcony with a great courtyard view. This was a first time experience for us for 3 months while my wife was recovering from surgery so I don't feel I'm experienced enough to offer that judgement. They fell short when it came to activities, transportation and off-site outings.
