The Best Senior Living Facility in Hayward, Landmark Villa

I have lived at Landmark Villa for seven months, and it is the best home I have had in years. I would give my overall experience a 5 out of 5. After living in three different senior living communities over the past few years, I can honestly say this is the best one. From the moment I moved in, everyone has made me feel welcome. The residents are friendly, and we truly consider ourselves a family. That feeling extends to the management and staff as well. Everyone works together to make Landmark Villa a wonderful place to live. The cleanliness of the community is outstanding. I would give it another 5 out of 5 because the staff works very hard every day to keep the building clean and comfortable. The quality of care is exceptional. Every resident has an individualized care plan that is regularly reviewed and adjusted to meet their needs. The caregivers work hard every day to carry out those plans with kindness and professionalism. They never complain, and in the seven months I have lived here, I have never met a staff member who was rude or crabby. The med techs deserve special recognition as well. They administer everyone's medications carefully and accurately, giving residents confidence that they are receiving the right care. Our maintenance team, [ Names Removed] , also does an outstanding job. They have helped me whenever I needed assistance, and I am grateful for everything they do. One thing that means a great deal to me is that every staff member, no matter what their job is, treats me like a person rather than just another resident. Whether they work directly with residents every day or behind the scenes, they know my name, stop to say hello, laugh with me, talk with me, and are always willing to help. That personal connection makes all the difference. The administration team is excellent. They are approachable, caring, and genuinely interested in making sure we have the best experience possible. They know residents by name and greet us personally. The front desk staff— [ Names Removed] —are terrific. I call them the "Jack of all trades" because they help with so many different things. No matter what we need, they are always willing to assist us with a smile while still handling all of their daily responsibilities. Our Executive Director, [ Name Removed] is personable, caring, and genuine. She knows each resident by name, and whenever I have needed her, she has always been available to help. Her leadership is one of the reasons Landmark Villa runs so efficiently and smoothly. The dining experience is another highlight. [ Name Removed] , our chef and kitchen manager, is friendly, caring, and passionate about serving delicious, healthy meals. The food is made from scratch, and you can taste the difference. Every Saturday, residents receive menus for the upcoming week, and once a month Herbert holds a food meeting where we can share suggestions and requests. He truly listens to our feedback and does his best to incorporate our ideas. The dining room servers are fantastic. [ Names Removed] provide wonderful service and make each meal enjoyable. They know our preferences, remember the drinks we like, and give each resident personal attention while serving meals efficiently. There are many other dedicated servers as well who deserve recognition for their hard work. Even the cooks make an effort to greet residents. [ Names Removed] prepare wonderful meals and often stop by the dining room to say hello. Their friendliness and pride in their work are appreciated. Activities are another reason I enjoy living here. We are fortunate to have something fun to do every day. [ Name Removed] our Activity Director, is truly a ray of sunshine. She has endless energy and, most importantly, understands seniors and our abilities. She creates activities that are enjoyable, engaging, and appropriate for everyone. Some of our favorites include prize bingo, group Uno, and group Boggle. We even had a memorable one-day carnival. Each month, she holds an activity meeting where residents can suggest new ideas, and she genuinely listens to our feedback. Every Friday we enjoy Happy Hour, complete with live music, refreshments, lemonade, and great company. Even without alcohol, it is a wonderful way for everyone to relax, socialize, and have fun together. Landmark Villa also provides excellent value. My one-bedroom apartment has a balcony, a locking door with a peephole, and a small kitchen. Laundry and housekeeping are included, and residents who need additional services receive them according to their care plans. While my apartment does not have air conditioning, the hallways and dining room are air-conditioned and remain comfortable. I am very happy here at Landmark Villa. This is more than just a senior living community—it is my home. I feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely cared for every day. The staff, management, and residents have created a place where people truly look out for one another. If you are looking for a senior living community where you will be treated like family, I highly recommend Landmark Villa. Come join us and become part of our family—we would love to have you.

We would not think of moving. This is affordable. Affordability was my main concern and that was met. Apartment size is nice for two people. The best part is the care staff. My wife, who is paraplegic, likes her care givers and considers them as her friends.

Overall good but could step up a few areas

My dad moved here in early April after 2 consecutive heart attacks. Initially he was on independent living but progressed quickly to assisted living before passing in late June. I had toured the facility in February and he in March. We agreed it would the best fit - the staff was friendly, the residents seemed happy, the price was reasonable. He immediately said “I’m in the right place” after moving in. They helped with costs too as his needs increased. We had a few gripes - I felt I needed to ask for them to keep his room clean, I don’t think they gave him the anti-nausea medication when on his morphine (which is really a big miss), I’m still chasing down the refund check on his last month, and no one would help me move his stuff to my car after he passed even after I was told they would (that was hard, I was emotional after losing my dad) - but overall they did a good job with my dad and I’m grateful he was comfortable and had peace of mind the last few months of his life.

Our referral to Landmark was perfect! Dad was there for respite care only. Landmark is a wonderful, clean, conscientious, professional place! Based on the experience we had, we sure would recommend this community to other families

This place sucks!

This place does not care about their residents. They can't even hire people who understand english. I have had nothing but problems with this place since my mom got here a few years ago. Most recently my mom was fed pineapple with the core still on it. This is a choking hazard because of her condition and this is not the first time this has happened. My mom is constantly coming down with bed sores and uti's because of the lack of attention to care and detail. Her room frequently smells of strong urine. Hall bathrooms have sinks about to fall off the wall with chips, Faucets installed backwards, toilet loose. I would take stars away if I could!

Neighborly community and helpful friendly staff

Based on the experience we have had so far with the Landmark Villa, we have to say we love it. The people are so kind - including both the employees and the residents living there. In fact, the residents welcomed our loved one with songs and balloons.

great place very caring

both my mother and father were at landmark. mom 7 months before she passed, and my dad was there for 6 years. The people at landmark from bottom to top were excellent. I highly recommend this place they treated my parents like they were family

My review of Landmark Villa

To improve - the facility needs a freshening update, it looks dated and tired and that makes it less inviting and happy for residents. The colors are dark, the carpets needs to be replaced when worn and torn. Staff need to communicate openly and transparently to residents and family members as a show of respect for individuals rights, control, and decision making. I do not feel total trust of follow through and response when my mom has made appropriate requests.

The staff are extremely attentive to the residents who need care. The apartment sizes are very nice, this is one of the better apartments I have ever lived in. I am not a fan of the food so I cook my own meals. It is great for independent living, I still have my car and can come and go as I please. I would recommend Landmark Villa to others and already have to my friends.

Overall a Good Place

My dad seems to like it there. I think they're pretty good. They value independence of the residents, which is good. They're not too overbearing, and they allow the residents the freedom to do what they want, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your loved one's situation. But for us, it has been good. My dad gets to choose the sodium level at each of his meals, things like that. The food is just a different type of cuisine than he was expecting or prefers. I think they communicate really well. And overall it has been a pretty good experience.
