They are attentive and always check on my mom especially who needs 2 hour checks and medication management. They are easy to reach by phone and they always make sure to take good care of my parents.\nThe food has been very good too every time I have stayed for dinner and my parent have no complaints about it. They do a good job at providing meals that everyone likes while still keeping it fresh and new.\nMy parents also love to go on the pontoon boat that they have, I have never seen another senior living place with a boat and it is a very fun thing for my parents.","reviewerDisplayName":"Robert L","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Magnolia by the Lakes ","reviewContent":"Pros: Beautiful modern apartments, great views, beautiful grounds, access to Cass Lake, pontoon rides, activities, shopping trips, monthly themed dinner parties with live entertainment. Some great staff overall. This place is perfect for a person with good mobility looking for assisted living. The person running the monthly parties is wonderful and really puts her heart into it. It really gives people something to look forward to each month. Another plus is that the full care does include full showers 5x week; we've found that the average is 2x week.\n\nCons: We had multiple issues with appliances that took weeks to resolve. Specifically, the washing machine and refrigerator. They didn’t fix them but just brought replacements from empty apartments. She also experienced massive water damage due to a freezing of the fire suppression system that took months to repair.\n\nWhat they need to improve the most is the care team. There was a very high turnover of staff, many of them being very young and inexperienced. That said, there were also absolutely wonderful people that we wished never left. I imagine this is common in most assisted living places. My mom was in her own apartment with full care, which meant check-ins every 2 hours. Unfortunately, they didn't always come every 2 hours, but she was mostly able to call as needed for help getting to the bathroom. As her fine motor skills and mobility worsened, she was warned not to call too often for frivolous things. This led to her experiencing frequent falls trying to do things herself. She ended her lease with a fall that resulted in a spinal compression fracture, and we moved her into a group home with true 24/hr care. Unfortunately, the lease states that you need two months’ notice and two doctor’s notes to end the contract. We were out two months’ rent due to the sudden nature of her injury. We also had some issues with incorrect medicine management. Thankfully my mom was cognizant enough to recognize her correct pills. Before we left, they had newly hired a nurse to manage it so hopefully it has improved.\n\nLooking back, I wish she had moved in a year earlier to enjoy all they had to offer. Ultimately, she needed more assistance than was available in their full care package. I will note that the north side is a memory care facility that does offer more intensive care. However, my mom’s disease doesn’t affect her cognitive ability, so we felt it would not be appropriate for her there.
