Have lots of experience with ALZ pati...
Have lots of experience with ALZ patients. very flexible with schedules, can add/subtract hours as needed. Big company, high rigorous standards, licensed/bonded, have workers comp, withhold all taxes. no cancellation fees, need one week deposit up front, over 100 workers in SJ area, recommend a back-up that has met mom for occasions when primary person is sick...but if patient does not want/need the backup, that's ok. At least weekly communication with every caregiver...encourage feedback from the client as well. Find a caregiver who is compatible, will engage mom in activities. Need to do an in-home assessment prior to recommending caregivers. Agree that caregiver interviews are important.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Home Care. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Know the California regulations for Home Care: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about California regulations for Home Care.
