A Great Place to Live!

I love my new place. NO stairs! I fell several times at my old house, and being widowed and living alone I was always afraid of falling & not being able to get up. I can't really make any comments on staff, activities, food/dining experience, etc. I am living in an independent living duplex,so do all cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc myself. My duplex has 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom (tub/shower/stool) a 3/4 bath off the main bedroom, and a huge closet in main bedroom. Very generous size closet in 2nd bedroom. Large living room, fair sized kitchen and dining area. There is also a 4 season room over looking backyard and an attached one car garage with nice closet and large storage area. Patio in the back yard, plus fair sized patio like area in front by front door. All lawn mowing & yard work, snow clearance, etc. done by maintenance staff. Only moved in 8 weeks ago, and went on 6 week vacation 5 days after I moved in. So haven't been here a long time yet. But so far I love it. Hope this is helpful.

Rotary Senior Living

I live independently in a two bedroom duplex. Has 2 baths, living room, large kitchen, a four season room and attached garage.. best of all---NO STAIRS! I never really interact with staff, as my place is an independent living facility. Same with the food, and all the other things you asked me to comment on. I really like my place and plan to stay here for as long as I can manage on my own.

staff knows special things about my mother-in-law

I am so glad to see pictures of residents in skilled care doing more activities. So many times when I visit, they are just sitting around. How sad. I enjoyed seeing them bowling, catching a ball with the parachute, and playing musical instruments.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Iowa’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Iowa’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
