Faculty was nice enough but a little too “stuffy” for our taste. We prefer casual over formal. We also felt it was more pricey than other facilities.

Overall would very much recommend!
Staff is good. I have been having trouble getting phone calls returned from sales and marketing. No one has referred me to the proper person. Care, activities, food, cleanliness, are all great. Room/apt sizes are as advertised.

The Buckingham is a large senior living community in Houston, Texas. While it is in the city, it's close to many parks and outdoor spaces, and residents often enjoy looking out over the nearby forest from their rooms or the patio. Houston is a cultural center of the Lone Star state. It’s known for its great international food scene, museums, and the Space Center. Residents and visitors will always find something fascinating, historic, and cutting-edge to enjoy in Houston.
As a large community, The Buckingham offers comprehensive senior care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing. Residents benefit from the seamless transition to different types of care as their needs change, and families take relief in knowing their loved ones can stay in a familiar setting. All residents live in private apartments, although seniors in independent living have the option to reside in one of the townhomes. All of the facilities are spotlessly clean and the campus is quiet, without traffic noise or distractions.
The staff does their best to empower residents to use their golden years to do what they’ve always wanted to do, whether it’s using the fitness room to become healthier, tending to their own...

The nurses are rude, they yell at the patients and sit in the break room all day while the residents call out for help. This place is under staffed with lazy black nurses who would rather eat and talk in the break room than work.

Overall, the Buckingham is a very good Assisted Living Facility, with some challenges in staffing and food delivery. Mom is 90 and beyond the need for excursions, etc., which most people are. Mom gets good care, when care is needed with doctors from the SNF and nurses from the Assisted Living facility being there consistently and helping. The challenges around disasters (hurricanes, etc.) created some health issues for mom as her apartment had no electricity and air conditioning for several days (I think they have remedied this lately.) The food in assisted living is not very good, and certainly not distinctive. The service in the dining area is passable, but could be improved. I think the issue is finding good help.....

My mother broke her hip and was kicked out the hospital very quickly. A neighbor moved to independent living at The Buckingham, but we didn't know they have rehab after injury. She went in weak never expecting to come home, but the rehab was top-notch. It's a very busy place, but the food was amazing and she is now back home and better than before. Thank you Buckingham for never giving up on her!

They were understaffed. The staff they had was unmotivated and on their phones. The residents are too spread out in the area. The activity director, [name removed] was great! I watched staff member give a resident huge bites of food because she needed her to eat faster. It is a lovely place but they need trained and adequate staff.

My mother suffered a pelvic fracture and was sent by the hospital to this SNF. Mom was in a lot of pain and at first I thought it was her because of her injury. There were good doctors who were looking into the orders for her care. They don't see the poor care that several CNAs on the floor failed to provide. I hired a private CNA to be in the room with my MOM. The CNA had to be behind the nurses to get them to do diapir changes, otherwise my MOM would have sat in her poop and urine for hours. They also didn't post her orders on the board she was there a week and half and was showered twice. They roller her like a rag and she stayed in pain. I had to bring it to the attention of the SNF Administrator and he sought action for my MOM. We ended up pulling her from the SNF and the social worker helped us get a referral to the [removed] to provide Home Care Pt. It was not a good experience and because of their inconsistent practices, my MOM will never go to another home.

Overall excellent, mom is mostly happy there but does sometimes gripe about service now being fast enough... given that she's VERY demanding. The staff i have met there are very nice... my mom doesn't like to shower, so she gripes especially a lot about that and tells me that the 'lady is mean and makes me get in shower', but I think that is a good thing and I told mom that I side with the lady. I think that's an amazing and generous model, rare to find these days We didn't know this when we first looked at the Buckingham, but they are non-profit and I believe as long as someone is there for a good number of years, they will always have a home there.

We are new residents. Everyone, both staff and residents, are friendly and make life at The Buckingham a great place to live. Lots of activities for every level of interest and abilities. Friends for dinner every night. Assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing are just down the hallway—no need to travel to another building. Best decision we could have ever made.

We love the Buckingham! There is something for everyone around here. Too many activities and outings to list. Special events, Lecture's, trips, clubs. You name it. Plus the food is incredible. Seriously - we love eating here it makes going out to a restaurant a chore. Especially when you can have steak and salmon every night if you want.

The team running the Buckingham is totally committed to service, excellence and caring for the residents. They are creative in making the ambiance of daily living the very best possible. The depth of skill sets among the administrators is awesome and their desire to use those skills to constantly seek improvement is awesome.

The food served here is as good or better than most restaurants, and the selections are amazing. You can get most anything even if it is not on the menu of the day. The people who live here are delightful and so friendly. The people who work here are also very friendly and most know your name. When the time comes, there are several places you can move to where you can be taken care of: assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.

My wife and I have many medical appointments at the medical center. We have taken the free Buckingham service to every appointment, always on time, dropped off at the entrance, no parking worries. A great service!

I have lived at The Buckingham for over 11 years. It was one of the smartest moves I ever made! Beautiful building and apartment; outstanding, friendly and helpful staff; extremely friendly and interesting residents; gourmet dining; and more activities than one person has time to attend.

My Mother moved into the Buckingham 2006. She lived in her own apartment. Everyone was so wonderful to her. She met so many new friends! I was so happy she was there! The dining room is so lovely and the food yummy! Then in 2021 she had to move into Skilled nursing. They were all wonderful to her! I went everyday to visit her...then they suggested that she was not doing well..so hospice came. She passed April 2022. I have such good memories there!

Great staff, amazing food, 23 acres of beautiful trees and flowers, and wise use of retirement funds. It was the best Senior Community we visited in Houston and felt like home right away. We're so glad to be here!

The staff was not very responsive. They were on their phones.. too much turnover. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. The activity leader, [name removed] was great.
