Great Assisted Living/Memory Care facility.

How lucky we are to have this facility in Brighton! Inglenook recently opened this Memory Care wing and they spared no expense and researched the programs to place in this wing of their Assisted Living community. The staff goes out of their way to help your family member and to meet the needs of the individual and other family members. My husband is happy there and the meals and snacks provided are very good. The doctors and nurses on staff are wonderful and have helped to make the transition from home to Inglenook a wonderful experience for all of us. We especially like the room/apartment layout and the great room, dining room and large patio areas. The small unit size allows for lots of individual attention for your loved one.

Pretty good overall, could use work on cleanliness and some staff

The apartments could be cleaner; it seems they don't dust or do more than basic cleaning and I feel it should be more consistent. Some of the staff that is in upper management tend to ignore families that want to ask questions. Other than that, I like it, and my mom seems to love it. She is happy, and they treat her very well and her kind to both her and our family.

They have done excellent so far.

They have done excellent so far. I am very happy with them. The food is very traditional home cooking, which I find very appropriate for my loved ones. It's a more laid back home environment. The staff is outstanding. I would strongly recommend them to anyone.

So far it's going pretty good.

It's only been a few weeks yet so it's still new, but so far it's going pretty good. The staff is friendly, and it's kept very clean. They have been very responsive. They have more entertainment than we need and they don't push them to do more than they want. She seems to be pretty happy with the food so far.

very happy

So far my brother and sister in law are very happy at Inglenook At Brighton. From what we are hearing it sounds like a lovely place. My sister in law is getting worse, which is to be expected with her Alzeihmers disease, however my brother is getting much better, and it takes some of the stress off of him to have the assistance.

Due to our Mom's health issues and complications, her stay at Ramsey Village was very short. However, in the short time that we were there -- we felt much caring concern for Mom's well being and ours. Thanks for providing that special touch that makes us all feel cared for.

Golden Pond is Golden

This is a good community. Golden Pond is the best I have found for my loved one. I like that it is in more a neighborhood setting and not on a busy street. This building is next to a school, and it is fun to see the youth around on the community. The staff is very nice and accommodating to the resident's needs. I wish the community had more activities outside of the community. They do have weekly outings, I just wish it was more for my loved one. They have monthly meetings for the residents to voice what they would like to see happen more. The have a meal plan, a bistro, and more. I think overall it is an awesome place.

a truly caring staff

They have been amazing at keeping an eye out on mom. She was not at all happy to leave her home. They work constantly to keep her involved, watch out for problems, and anticipate where she will need guidance and interaction on their part. I'm sure we waited longer than we should have to make her move. They have made the most of it. Even dealing with her unhappy partner, that has complicated life immensely. Thanks so much to them for their patience.

Comfort for mom!

We love it so far, it has been great and was what we considered the best in that area. In our search what we found with peninsula reflection is that it is a smaller community and it did not feel like an institution. It seemed like a little more personable, not hospital like. It does have everything necessary to care for someone in need of memory care. It is what we were looking for. The billing and invoicing are kind of confusing, an example would be that our bill is in conjunction with the long term care insurance and it is difficult to determine what has been paid.

Overall, my experience has been great. The staff has been marvelous and very attentive to her. Golden Pond was our second choice and we originally did not want to go with them as the hallways were very long and very dark. However, mother needed more care than our first choice could provide so we moved her to Golden Pond. That's my only complaint - put some of those new LED lights in the hallways.

overall a great place a new home

My mom has been a resident at Golden pond retirement community receiving assisted living support for over a year. She was recently hospitalized and went to skilled nursing and has finally returned home. And home is what this place has come to be. So the building may be a little older it's charming and homey. Her apartment is a full- sized one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen minus a stove. However with three meals a day she doesn't need her kitchen beyond the refrigerator and microwave. The food is overall outstanding, with a variety of specials and choices available. There is always fresh fruits and salads available and often fresh vegetables. Last night's grilled asparagus with olive oil and seasoning was crisp and delicious. But what really makes Golden pond stand out is the staff. From the kitchen servers to the front desk to the aides that are there to provide support, the kindness and patience and willingness to really help stand above and beyond what I've seen elsewhere. However I'd be remiss not to also mention the variety of activities that are available on a daily basis that are engaging and fun. There is live music twice a week and at least quarterly there is a big outdoor celebration of some kind where all the families and neighbors are invited. It's really become another home away from home and I'm grateful.

a nice community with areas of improvement

It is a very old community and it is showing. There are some units being remodeled, but most are like stepping back into the 70s. I was not pleased with the state of my dads unit. He did have to make a last minute change, but the unit he moved into was what I have been describing as gross. Also, my dad did not receive his call pendant until three days after he moved in. He did fall within those three days while getting out of the shower and the grab bar came out of the wall when he grabbed it. They fixed it quickly, but it just solidified the fact that all the units need to be updated before someone gets seriously injured.

Tour Review

Our family had an in person tour and the tour experience itself was fine, the staff were inviting but everything seemed very disorganized with stacks of paper everywhere. They had said on the tour that they were in the process of remodeling - but from what we have heard it has been going on for years. The facility was dirty and when we had asked the residents if they liked living here or not you could tell the staff were very resistant to that and we got the impression the residents were not happy. Their dining room was very chaotic- they have a stage in the dining room that was full of storage and boxes which really threw us off. Most of the lights were turned off as well so it just was very dark and dingy. We toured in the middle of the day and we did not see any activities at all, it just seemed really depressing.

Tour of Peninsula Reflections

I visited Peninsula Reflections' facility and I was pretty impressed. I really liked the executive director there, I spoke with her many times. My biggest concern was security because my sister can be a wanderer. As I was going out the front door, I did notice something that turned me off. There was a stick sitting under the door to hold it open, and I immediately thought that anyone could walk into or out of the place. I never mentioned anything to the director, but that did shut me off from the community. I was really looking into this community and seeing that turned me away. Maybe they were bringing something in at that moment, but I just saw it as an escape route. Other than that, the facility was awesome and the director was really great. Peninsula Reflections was my second choice, but I chose another community instead.
