Elderwood Administrative Services

It's very clean, and the staff is very friendly. They have plenty to do, for activities. The food is a highlight there, it's pretty good. I have both parents there and they are able to take a couple, some of the other places couldn't they only had a single room. It's all been positive, I have nothing negative to say! I would recommend it.

My loved one was only here a short time due to financial reasons, but I thought they did an absolutely excellent job! If she ever requires assisted care again she said she definitely wants to go back here. Everyone is very friendly, and they did a really great job getting her out of her shell and involved socially. The chef for the community was also fabulous! He really tried to get to know the residents and ensure that there was something on the menu for everyone!

The emeritus people call to let me know how my loved one is doing. They call every week. If I could rate them a six, I would. Meet and greet the people who live there. Michael Morris is their director and he’s fantastic. The location is fantastic as well, close to drug stores and other services that a person could use. The community is very clean, even the lawn is well manicured.

The staff are all very very helpful, and so nice, I would give them more than a five if I could! They have been great. The activities and programs they have is great and very beneficial. They have been very helpful.

Wonderful first impression, very focused on mom's health and care.

I found Nicole to be very Informative and enthusiastic about her job.She cleared up lot of confusion I had about assisted living. I did not like he layout of the apartment she showed me. It was 2 studios made into one suite, no kitchen facility.

I'm more than pleased with them, they have been nothing short of wonderful. They were the older of the ones I checked. The staff was great, I toured for an hour and a half, I never once got the feeling that they had other things to do. They were really gracious. The Elder life resource they offer is great. I used the V.A. assistance with help filling out the paperwork, and there was a bridge loan to help pay for things while waiting for paperwork. It's been nothing short of a minor miracle for us. The people component is night and day as far as making you feel at home.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Emeritus. The only criticism is that the heaters are not thermstatically controlled so there is no way to keep the temperature at one place so that could be better, but in the scheme of things that is relatively minor. We thought the staff was wonderful! They were very sympathetic and kind.

My wife spent a month at Emeritus at Colonie Manor for Respite care. She has had Parkinsons Disease for 15 years and although I was reluctant to leave her, I needed a vacation from my job as her caregiver. We visited twice met with senior staff and took a tour of the facility. It was very clean and the kitchen was immaculate . During her stay everyone of the staff were attentive, friendly and very important to Parkinsons patients her medications were given on time. She truly enjoyed her stay, she met new friends and staff members hugged her good by when she left and a few even had tears in their eyes. As you can guess I would not hesitate to reccommend Emeritus at Colonie for a short or long term stay.

Emeritus was the nicest visually, the nicest personel, after some months now I'm totally pleased. It's a great facility, well run, great people, good organization. I meet with the nursing staff once a month and they always keep me up to date and they're on top of what's going on. Now she likes it very well, at first she didn't want to leave where she was but they do a fantastic job of getting them involved with activites and meeting people they would get along with. They're just better in everything. As she evolves in her care they're right on top of it and can take care of it. They're really in tune with that, they're just over and above. They're intune ith doing anything to make her happy and I can just see them doing definitely more than anywhere else we looked at. Even the people that are actually there, living in the community, are very pleasant, sensitive and I think thats a reflection of their environment, it's a very calming atmosphere.

So far everything has been going great. Emeritus is a really pretty community that is very pleasing to the eyes. So far we have nothing to complain about with them and would recommend this community to anyone looking. They really are just a great community with plenty to do if you want to participate.

We thought it fit my mother in law the best. Its a one floow, small...smaller place than the others and since she has a hard time walking, at the other places she would have had to either walk on stairs or take an elevator if it was more than one level. They've been wonderful, its been a very good experience. Since she's not a social person, she gets annoyed with people coming into the room at different times of day but they're only coming in to give her her meds or change her sheets or things like that. She has a hard time swallowing so they have been accomodating her as far as crushing her meds or putting them in pudding. The food is a good thing too, I have eaten there probably 3 or 4 times the past couple of months and its good.

Visited on 7/29/13. Met with Laurie Schneider, Community Relations Director.The entire facility was very clean and neat. Residents were able to go outside to the front area to sit or walk. Was able to see residents having dinner; the food looked very good and the residents were very friendly. Pets are allowed; no dogs there at this time. Very impressed with the size of the rooms (smallest, single room seemed to be much larger than the single room at Emeritus at Woodland Place). Shared showers was very acceptable. Lots of storage/closet spaces. I really liked the idea of having the resident's personal furniture in their room; make them feel more 'at home'. Also liked the layout of the entire facility with the common areas in the middle and living 'villages' in the corners. Overall, I was very impressed!

It just seemed to have everything that we were hoping to get for my mother. She has fallen in love with the place. She thinks she works there its not that far away. I think it’s a reasonable place and I think she is very happy there and that’s all I care about her being happy and well taken care. She just seems so happy there that she is not as stubborn as she used to be. We are constantly calling and keeping an open line of communication. Just liked it right away and the manager here was upfront with us. He really is dedicated and told us it would be hard at first but she will end up loving it. We are glad we stuck it out because now she does love.

I chose the Emeritus at Perinton Park Manor for several reasons, first is the cleanliness, second is they could push a wheelchair, and lastly because of the recommendation of a visiting nurse who saw our other options and thought Emeritus was the best. Mom felt at home here and she picked it as her first choice. It is a lot better than the four other places we toured. The state of New York has restrictions on what properties can push residents in wheelchairs. The Emeritus is certified by the state to push wheelchairs which was important to us. It's great, we did a lot of looking over six weeks and mom is real happy here, she tells us she likes it here a lot. We are able to visit her everyday, so that might have something to do with it.

The property is conveniently located to family members. We liked our visit and my father-in-law has no complaints.

Unfortunately dad was only there for 2 weeks and had a bad fall and is now living with me. I would highly recommend Elderwood. We were sad to have him leave.

We researched a few assisted livings for our Mother and decided on Elderwood Village at Greece. There was a very smooth transition when signing as Elderwood changed from Brookdale. Change can be difficult for an elderly parent, however, this was a perfect change for Mom. She is very happy with the Staff, new friends and her 3 meals a day. The food is what she comments on daily as being very good. She transferred from a one bedroom apartment, alone all day, to a family oriented facility. There are activities that she has not done before and is up for each challenge. It was a very good move for our family. Thank you Elderwood Village!!
