Caregivers are very nice. Food better than most places. We picked this community because it was closest to my home.

I recommend Valencia for anyone that prefers an all women home. This feature makes me feel most comfortable. The benefit for this type of home in that it’s a smaller setting is the way they can accommodate and customize your stay better than other facilities. I happen to be a picky eater but I can always count on the caregivers to make me something I prefer and they now know my likes and dislikes so well I hardly Have to ask for the substitutions. This home has all levels of care and with my situation I want to do as much for myself as possible. The caregivers will help me but let me still live my life and do things for myself. That is important to me. The home is very clean and we all get to to know each other and the staff has been very good to me.

I would tell others that the staff is phenomenal, loving, and caring. They are just as concerned about the families as they are for the residents. Due to health conditions we requested some restrictions and dietary changes. We ended up having to bring our own diabetic materials down for them to use. They are perfect for those who just needs an eye to watch out for them. They are lacking in the additional medical care needed.

When I toured Central Scottsdale Assisted Living, the person that took us around was welcoming and informative. They were able to answer any questions about the home and give us good information. The facility was in good shape, but what we did not like was the fact that there was nothing set in writing as far as pricing. The price was different on their website as the price they actually told me when I arrived, I was shocked. Other than that, it was a god you but not what we were looking for.

We think they took on a little more with our loved one then what they had equipped and ready. He was diabetic and they didn't have the dietary restrictions they should of had. When we got there he was still walking in a walker, and within two days he was in a wheel chair and was wheel chaired bound the rest of the time. From a nursing stand point he went downhill so fast. It was a lovely and beautiful place, we just thought he could of used a little more care. The staff was so loving, and wonderful towards our family.

[name removed] was only there [dates removed] so I don't know how much this adequately reflects. As with any care facility I would recommend visiting your family member on a daily basis, talk to the manager about their care and ask questions about any changes so the family can discuss and make wise decisions as to whether or not their loved one should see a doctor

Overall was good. It met the need to have care for my husband when my work required us to go back into the field and I couldn't take care of him any longer. 2 cleanliness was excellent. Staff was very friendly. I don't think they liked us stopping in unscheduled. I think they lacked on training. Quality of care (not getting him up to walk or do any movement exercises on a regular basis. He was there 3 weeks and stopped walking all together. Also I popped in to visit him he was lethargic and feverish and we had to call an ambulance. At the ER he was diagnosed with a severe UTI spent the night in the hospital, codex in the morning and they revived him but he died 4 days late. Meals were fine, not many activities, value was better than most I had looked into. I think they need training to know signs of illnesses. They need nurses who are licensed not just caregivers.

The gal that runs North Scottsdale Retreat is is great. We did have some issues with medication management. One night my dad was given another residents medication. Initially my dad was in what I would call a depressing room at the back of the community without a good window and when I brought it to their attention they very graciously moved him to the master suite at the front of the community with lots of space and windows at the same rate. It really made a big difference.

We placed our dear neighbor, for whom I am POA in Central Scottsdale Assisted Living approximately 1 1/2 years ago based on the reviews from an assisted living locator. This facility is very clean and has a married couple as care givers. The couple are very diligent in getting their job done on THEIR schedule, but they are not the most compassionate people and were determined to do things in the way they had "always done it" regardless of the client's wishes or ability to cooperate with them. Our friend has a type of vertigo and continuously felt with any quick movement that she was falling. She was continuously told by the care givers to do things their way. Our friend was not happy . Also there was no other clients our friend could talk with or have association with because most of the other clients there were sitting in front of a large TV sleeping. Also the meals were quite bland and not varied as our friend would have preferred. Also, the charge, according to the contract,( which required first and last months rent on admission) was not allowed to be refunded if the client left within a certain number of days, so for 2 months of care in this facility, our friend paid $18,000. (yes that's eighteen thousand dollars). Read the contract carefully before signing.

My sister placed our mother in this home over a year ago. We as a family loved the place and it seemed to nothing but improve until now. There has been a drastic change in staff and management which has led to terrible communication, customer service and care for the elderly women that reside at this home. The feel when you walk in is off. My mom has a very bad memory but there are others that can speak up and do when we've been by to visit. The staff are not as friendly or as knowledgeable in care. We were considering a change for mom but have agreed that moving her would be very confusing and hard on her. We are hoping that this is just a ruff patch for the home but will be back to the quality it once was.

Short story is my mom was here for 4 months. I was concerned about the differences in abilities between other residents and her fitting in. They assured me at 90 days, we could move on and not forfeit deposit. Fast forward - they never did anything they promised. No mobile care because I couldn't choose THEIR mobile provider. Even when I found my own, they wouldn't help. No prescriptions delivered so I had to run get them at all hours of the night. On two occasions they told me at 8p that she was out for the next AM. She would miss pills and become disoriented. They charged me twice for rent one month. I still haven't seen that check. At 90 days, I tell them we want to move. They make more promises of change and ask for 30 days. Nothing changed. At move out, staff wouldn't even get off phone to say gbye. 8 months later - I get a hold of someone finally to find out all staff replaced. She assures me resolution. But now I am being ignored again. Beware.
