My mom was in assisted living as well as memory care for 9 years. The entire staff was wonderful to her up until her last day. I never had to worry about her. I can't say enough good things about the staff!

I cannot speak highly enough about Northport Highlands Assisted Living Facility! From the moment we walked through the doors, we knew it was the one. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and feels like home. The staff is absolutely wonderful — attentive, compassionate, and genuinely dedicated to the residents' well-being. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed with both comfort and safety in mind. There are plenty of common areas where residents can socialize, read, or enjoy activities. Residents love the sunny, peaceful garden area where they can relax with a cup of tea, and the community rooms are always bustling with activities, from movie nights to craft sessions. What truly stands out, however, is the quality of care. The caregivers are experienced, patient, and always go the extra mile to ensure residents feel comfortable, secure, and respected. The personalized care plans mean that every resident receives the attention and support they need.

It’s a pretty nice place. Very clean and the residents looked happy. I noticed some activities going on for the residents that looked fun. There is a nice resident dog as well. The food looked good during the lunch meal service. I was able to join. Friendly staff as well!

I have grown to know the Northport Highlands through my husband's year-long stay there. While I rarely provide reviews anywhere, it's important to share my input, as what I have experienced, what my husband continues to experience, and what I see almost daily, is worthy of sharing to those who may be seeking a caring living environment for a loved one. The Highlands is clean, friendly, diverse in population and staff, attentive to individual needs of residents, and offers a wide variety of activities to keep residents involved. As a facility, it has the ONLY indoor swim pool in Leelanau county, which is open to residents and resident families. Two exercise areas have just about any machines/equipment one needs. Ice cream socials, coffee and donuts, happy hour . . . and music happens with weekly singalongs, piano concerts, and outside musicians visiting. The staff is local - key to consistency and presence. Pets are welcome. Apartments are large with plenty of storage space.

My mother [name removed] has been a resident there this past year. The staff were without exception truly loving to her. She liked the meals and activities that they provided her. I often ate meals with her in the dinning room. This gave me many opportunities to see how kind the staff was to my mother and all of the other residents. I have and will continue to highly recomend the Highlands to everyone I meet. David M. Warm

I really like this place a lot it's not too big and not too small just the right size for mom. There are only 14 people in the memory care section. Mom is participating in activities and she is able to go out with my brother who doesn't live too far on a drive or for a day trip. She is liking the food very much and she loves the staff there. They have been very kind and caring to her.

Both my parents have moved into Northport Highlands. My mother needed it more so than my father, but it comforted my family and I knowing that this is the place that is taking care of them. They have such a friendly staff, the place is always clean and it seems like there is always something for the residents to do. I don’t have to worry about my parents getting to any doctor appointments as they are always taken care of. Northport Highlands is very transparent and communicates exceptionally well when it comes to the status of my parents. I have toured 4 places with my parents before they chose this one. They love it and I’m glad they’re happy.

Beautiful large facility with many amenities. We did not see many residents, they must have been in their rooms or else the facility has a lot of vacancies. Nice kitchen. Great pool and workout area. Pretty views.

The overall experience was not great for my family, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be great for others. My dad had cancer at that time. The facility is an hour away from the hospital. The facility did not help with rides to the hospital. They didn't try to help find a service to help my father get to the hospital for treatments. One time he had to take a taxi and it cost him $[removed]to get there. At times he had to just go in an ambulance because he didn't have any other choice. He felt completely trapped in an isolated location.

My father had very good care despite a few nights left up in his chair late into the evening. Food was not very good but we supplemented. The kitchen in his room came in handy. Staff was helpful and caring but a little short staffed. Administrative staff was terrific. The facility was more than we asked for, charming, clean and comfortable. My father enjoyed the activities and amenities. He especially enjoyed swimming. Overall it was the best move we could have made, he thrived in this new home of his and was very happy despite his terminal illness.

The staff members are friendly, The contractual agreement as well as the financial arrangements are easy to navigate. The COVID restrictions led to our loved one being barred from the facility and consequently our loved one had passed away with COVID during that restricted period. However we do not hold ill will towards the Northport Highlands as they were operating under impossible conditions.

I am not completely comfortable leaving a review but what I will say is that there are some things that can be better although it is quite a nice place. Mom has her good days and bad days and I'm hoping that with time it gets better.

Covid has really complicated matters. They are not letting me in due to the restrictions. There are activities however, I am not aware of all of them. The healthcare provider that we were using also is not allowed to come into the community anymore.

The general staff are polite, and they have a dirty pool but a pool nonetheless. Terribly rude management. My grandparents are residents and they hate every second of it. The lights in there room have been broken for months. I was kicked out for reading before going to see my grandparents as I was “Loitering”.. so rude, didn’t even let me explain I was visiting and using the pool. I’m friends with some residents and they hate the facility, they say the foods god awful.
