Most of the staff are friendly, but some are standoff-ish. They also talk a good game, but feel some of the staff aren't getting the message. Not following up with preset instructions, or aren't aware of those.

It seemed like more of a room, than an apartment type of feel. It was okay but not a good fit for my loved one.

The negative was that they had difficulty with hospice and did not know how to interact with them, which made it really hard for us. The lack of communication was the biggest issue. Overall due to our experience I would probably not recommend Village Shores to other families looking.

Brightondale did not seem as up to date as some of the other facilities that I checked out. There was nothing wrong, it was just that the atmosphere was not the right fit for my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and we were not really impressed with the staff, they just seemed like they were there to do a job and did nothing special to make us feel welcomed. Other communities we were visiting went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

My mom was in memory care. The food was not good and was served cold. It was better when she was in Assisted Living. The rooms were very nice. The staff was helpful, some were better than others. The nursing staff was great. They have a music room with a piano and offered religious services which was important to us.

I appreciate [name removed] giving my Dad a great tour. My Dad's main concern was the expense. The pros were the pool and chapel.

I appreciate [name removed] providing a great tour for my Dad. My Dad's main concern about this facility is the cost. With my Mom's memory care needs it will cost a minimum of $120,000 a year to live in an approx 500 square ft one bedroom apartment. There is no washer or dryer in the apartment that he saw. The benefits of this place are the 3 meals a day provided for both my parents in the cost, access to the pool and church services.

Our loved one lived at Brightondale Reflections Memory card for only about 6 weeks, and then she passed away.

This is an older facility. [Name removed] was extremely helpful in answering our questions. The restaurant style kitchen/dining is a plus and has many options for picky eaters. The staff was friendly, rooms were sufficient in size but something we noticed was the floors felt uneven in some spots. This is a 2 story facility which is too big for my mother.

They advertise as Enhanced Assisted Living, but function as traditional AL. They lack nursing management, poor follow up from the nurse manager in the EAL. Everything else about the facility is awesome.

All sounded very good -- but no rooms available.

For the tour, [name removed] was very nice and explained things thoroughly. The medical services are provided through another company and you are charged "a la carte" and this is why another review said 'they nickle and dime you'. A disadvantage to this is that it would be harder to budget your money. The building was clean and I noticed no smells. It does seem a bit tired and a little run down. I went around 10 am and there were few residents about. The staff knew each resident and seemed to have rapport there. Another disadvantage of this place is that it is all private pay. If you or your loved one's money runs out there may have to be another move.

I felt they were not honest with us up front about the cost. We were charged for things that we did not know about. They do not include a breakdown of the charges on the billing statement. I have not seen a lot of activities that my loved one would be interested in. They do like the food and the community is gorgeous. My loved one is not happy here as we think they need a community with more activity. I would recommend asking if the cost is all inclusive when you tour a community.

I had a nice tour of this community. I toured it for my mother, and her needs. The community appeared to be well maintained, and clean. The staff was pleasant, and courteous. It was a nice experience, but unfortunately this was not the community for my mother, and her needs.

The community was very nice and clean. I had actually already been here before because I lived by here. I did not like that the building was dark and not open. Also the way that they charged you for every bit of care mom would receive.

Not a bad place, but the hidden prices are what get you. Keep an eye on food charges and other charges they don't tell you about when you are moving in. When you are not thinking straight cause a loved one is moving from there home to an APT the company should be willing to explain everything. I have learned alot with the care of my mom. What I learned is every place cares about money and not the person. So seeing as how every APT is the same just money hungry we have left mom there she seems to like it. She has made friends.

The building and staff were pleasant. We were only shown one apt. that was handicap access. We would have liked to see at least one other non-access. apt. for comparison. One of the biggest reasons we were interested in Parkshore was the garden/raised bed plots for residents. This was reiterated more than a few times yet we were never shown that area. The food in the Bistro was good, something for everyones tastes. Overall, a little disappointed.

We toured here when we were looking into options. It wasn't a good fit for us, they just weren't set up for my loved one's needs. Other family went and toured, and decided against this, it just wasn't right for us.
