Coming along beautifully

Beautiful facility Staff is eager and friendly and proactive Still working out “kinks” of being a new facility Food is great and creative but my mother’s palette is basic. She’s not a fan of most of the offerings.

Never ate there, but she didn't complain .Not sure how to evaluate the value for cost. It's on the expensive side compared to where she is now. My issue with them was that she started out on the first floor. She was found wandering around on the street outside and then they moved her to the basement memory care unit. It was depressing and smelled like urine there.

Great place for my mom and is reasonably priced

There is no cell phone service in the building. There is no one onsite to help with basic IT issues. The food is great. The residents are very nice. Apartments are pretty spacious, my mom has all that she needs.

Modena Reserve Experience

The common resident areas are nicely laid out and the housekeeping staff do a good job as it presents quite well. The courtyard area in particular, with the fountain, is really lovely. Meals are very tasty - mom enjoys them very much. The only negative is that the menus could be updated more regularly - at least weekly - so the lunch and dinner offerings are not the same 4 for weeks at a stretch. But again, the kitchen does a good job at preparing appealing and yummy meals. As regards assisted living, our experience during the early weeks after move-in, the facility had a difficult time with providing consistent services - showering, housekeeping, laundry, and meals brought to my mom. I had to send numerous emails to the executive director but after 6-7 weeks things settled down to a routine. Every resident wears a wrist unit so that if assistance is needed, they can touch the wrist unit and a notification is sent. However, it is difficult for my mother to bring herself to call for help. And, because in the early weeks when she would try to call for help and help was a long time in arriving as in 20 mins, 30 mins, or never, she just stopped using the wrist to summon assistance. The apartment/unit is nicely laid out and ease of mobility was taken into consideration - though wheelchair users cannot use the bathroom vanity sink nor get to the kitchen sink. In general, my experience has been a mostly positive one for my mom. Modena Reserve was the fourth place I toured and I knew before leaving it was the right one for mom. The care specialist who assisted me from A Place for Mom was exceedingly helpful, always friendly and polite, and I could not have successfully placed my mother without their services. I highly recommend the expertise of A Place for Mom.

I toured this community. The rooms were new and spacious. The outside area for the residents seemed small and confined, it didn't feel inviting. It's also in a very busy location/area.

All Around A Friendly and Clean Place

This has been a positive experience for my loved ones so far. We would like to see more activities available in the community for the residents to participate in. The dining is pretty good for the residents. There is one meal served to the residents and it is dinner.

A Great Community

It's a great community. They are seriously lacking staff, which is just a sign of the times. And that carries through into the dining experience and the care. But the staff that is there are good. I would just recommend asking about the staff to resident ratio. But everyone is very friendly and helpful. The residents are very nice as well. The facility is very clean. When I go into the elevators and the rooms, I can smell a good clean smell like everything has just been cleaned.

My tour review

This community was a little more pricey than what I was looking for. Also my loved ones did not want to drive that far to see my other loved one. This was a very informative and good tour at this community.

A Very Nice Place to Live

For the most part, the staff are friendly. Some of them might lack patience in dealing with the elderly. But for the most part they're friendly. They do respond to my phone calls. The one major complaint we have is that in the morning and at night, my loved one cannot get dressed / undressed on her own, and when she presses her call button, there can be a delay of about 45 minutes to an hour. Sometimes they're understaffed and just don't have enough people to help. But they have good activities. And the food is fresh and tastes good.

I Give It a Very Positive Recommendation

They have a very friendly, competent staff and management. My husband really needs assistance, and he does get it. They're always very nice and cheerful about it as well. It's a very clean facility. They have just gone through a change in ownership, although management is staying the same. So we'll see how things go in the future.

Its a great place to live

The food quality is good but they are struggling with staffing to serve everyone. I would recommend this community for your loved one. They have activities like functions in the dinning hall, movies in the video room, sing a longs and places where people can cook if they would like to.

Good facility

We have had a lot of issues with her oxygen, the staff could be trained better on that. Once I get a hold of nurses I can usually get an answer, but it is hard to get a hold of them. I do think it is improving, there was just a lot going on in the beginning. It is a beautiful facility, it is like a fancy hotel. Out of the ones we saw this was definitely the best. The technology is a 10, they have monitors everywhere, they have watches they wear if they need help, etc. The dining area is gorgeous, they have happy hours on Tuesdays. I would recommend to others looking.

Our tour experience

Our family had an in person tour and Treeo is a very pretty facility but it was not within our budget. They tried to give us a good price for the one bedroom which was nice, but at the time they were under construction so the surrounding outside area did not have any trees or nice scenery. Also if you wanted to go shopping you would have to pay for a shuttle instead of being close enough to walking.

I would recommend

We chose Echo Lake because it is new so it is bright and cheery and clean. They also had some incentives going on. They do not have a lot of activities provided in memory care. I gave the care a 3 because they are understaffed, the people that they do have are great, they just need more since they are growing. The food is excellent. I would recommend to others looking.

my review of Echo Lake

I am very happy with the care and the caregivers. There is some turnover with the staff. I would like to see some continuity with the caregivers. We have been very happy with echo lake and am so glad we chose them. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

The building is set amidst woods and is adjacent to the Reston Community Center with its swimming pool and many other facilities. The look and feel of the common areas has a kind of industrial quality to it. You are definitely aware that you are in an apartment building and not somebody's home. The 2 bedroom apartments we toured were nicely laid out with good space for the limited square footage. I gave it 4 stars because of the meal plan which allows you to eat anytime before 2:00 for an extra change, the many activity rooms each set up for a different purpose. Full kitchens and washer/dryer in apartments was a must have.

Supportive and Compassionate Community

Echo Lake is a great community. The staff at the community do a great job. I don't feel my loved ones are in danger; however, the community is just short on staff. Some of the activities available are exercise classes, pickleball, game clubs, trips out to different areas in the town, concert broadcasts, and more in the independent living area. The community is nice so my loved ones can be in different areas and be able to visit each other. On the memory care area they provide exercise classes, meal preps, staff assisted the residents engaged with different activities and going to meals. Echo Lake provides the option to live in the memory care area, if you are able and willing to live with your loved one who has memory care needs. They have apartments available for the residents to use if they choose this option. It has a resort or hotel feel in this brand new community. The ceilings are tall and the hallways are wide. This makes it nice for my loved ones.
