The Perfect Place for Mom
It was nice to have you come up with 4-5 choices of what we were looking for and just set up the appointments to go check them out. Atria was exactly what we were looking for, the food was delicious and my mom is still enjoying eating dinner there every evening, the staff are always friendly and seem to really take an interest in everyone. The room size was perfect, a 3rd floor apartment with a Mountain View, a balcony and all her furniture fit perfectly, it looks just like the home she left.

I can't give a positive review on Atria on River Road because of my bad experience there. I wouldn't even give Atria a rating of 1! I see now I was an easy target, a shut-in with no family or friends. At that time I tried to see something good in every person. Anyhoo, the Atria assistant director, a sweet lady, honestly didn't see anything wrong on her watch, but I saw a lot. I had to be a near victim myself before I woke up and smelled the coffee. I'm sure I left skid marks. You can post my entire review as a warning if it saves one person from a bad experience.

Review for Atria Campana Del Rio
The place is well maintained. It's an old facility so it's hard to make it look new. The staff is friendly. Everyone is doing everyone's jobs. It's not necessarily their fault. I think there are too few people to carry out what is required. For instance, too many people are covering the front desk, therefore, no one really knows what is going on. For the woman who is here 4 days a week her favorite phrase is "I don't know." This is probably the main topic of discussion amongst the residents. There are enough items on the menu, but not enough to deliver an "excellent" or even a "good" meal. The food consistently comes out at room temperature. I sent one meal back 3 times recently because they kept delivering the food warm, not hot. There are several waitpersons who speak English as a second language and at times there is no guarantee you'll get what you order. In order to get to the activities, there may be several levels or stairs a resident needs to maneuver in order to get to the destination. There are a lot of residents who rely on walkers to get around and as a consequence can't attend events - me included.

My mom is still getting settled. The staff are all wonderful. We had a slight billing issue but I believe that's been resolved. It's a lovely place. My mom has not taken part in many activities yet but she has met many residents and made friends already.

What I like the most about the community is the friendliness. However, what they could improve on would be the building maintenance, Repair/replacement of aging appliances. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.

great activities, would recommend, kind and helpful staff
The activities are wonderfully engaging. My mother has been able to find stimulating things to do and fun ways to make new friends. The staff have gone out of their way to help my mother do all the things she loves. They even help her get to daily mass at a Catholic Church nearby, which is extremely important to her

My husband and I are trying various senior residents for a possible future home. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Atria . Experience in the community is good. Staff and residents are friendly. When my loved one has asked about personal appointment rides or internet issues staff has left her feeling like a nuisance. This is unfortunate because those were services promised during touring and lease signing.

Excellent and most therapeutic
After losing my wife last year of a truly wonderful 47 years of marriage, I was completely lost in our two bedroom town house which I could no longer afford as having also lost her Social Security income with just my own. I was despondent and really felt there was no where else I could afford or want to move into. That is until I logged onto A Place For Mom, who referred me to Atria. This not only fit into my limited finances, but has resulted in an also truly beautiful living space offering three meals daily, tv and electricity. The facility is really beautiful and the staff from top throughout is top notch. They are all both attentive to all my needs and friendly. It has allowed and facilitated a sense of tranquility which I feel has been therapeutic in dealing with my loss, and I have been able to have my pet, Mimi, a Shih Tzu pup. Atria is just plain wonderful! Thank you Atria, A Place For Mom, et all.

It's poorly maintained and shabby but clean. Needs inside painting, molding, etc; needs faster food service. Needs more flexible transit service. And the doors, water fountains, and flooring are not wheelchair friendly. It's apartments are not ADA compatible.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Arizona’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Arizona’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Atria Campana Del Rio 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
