About the facility
Aurora Gardens

Nestled in a residential area along Florida’s coastline, Aurora Gardens is a cottage-like assisted living community full of warm energy. Residents can have peace of mind knowing they’ll reside near one of New Port Richey’s local hospitals.

Aurora Gardens staffs a variety of professionals who are qualified to provide personal care, assistance, and supervision. Trained caregivers and licensed nurses offer customizable care plans with services ranging from medication management to assistance with activities of daily living. In addition to caregivers, the community has multiple traveling medical professionals who can visit frequently. These professionals may include a dentist, podiatrist, audiologist, and physician. Beyond long-term care, the community also offers respite care and adult day care services.

Wellness and exercise programs help improve or maintain seniors’ fitness, while daily activities focus on their mental health through social opportunities. Popular pastimes include art classes, bingo games, and puzzle sessions.

Unprofessional
This facility is recently under new ownership and management. When it was [removed] it was great place. My loved one was happy. Once it became Aurora Gardens everything changed. Care, food, accommodations were all reduced to put more money in their pockets and still charged an exorbitant amount to stay there. Items are never repaired. When I would visit the air conditioning would be broken for days at a time leaving all the residents stay in 81 degree temperatures. My loved one complained daily and weekly until their unfortunate passing. I truly believe my loved ones mental and physical decline was brought on in a big way due the treatment at this facility. Do not send your loved one to this facility.

Not Suited For His Needs
I had a tour set up for me and I met with a different person. The staff didn't seemed involved, like when I asked them basic questions, they could not answer. It seemed like they were not as trained. The community was very, very plain. Nothing was on the walls and the people seemed like they had nothing to do. There was an outside area that looked caged in and nothing was nice about going outside. There is no privacy, my dad would have had to share a small room. The community was not appropriate for his needs.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Florida regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Florida regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Aurora Gardens 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
