CHANGE CAN BE GOOD, BUT NOT THIS CHANGE.
I LIVED HERE BEFORE PACIFICA BOUGHT GOLD COUNTRY SENIOR LIVING AND FOUND IT TO BE A FRIENDLY HOME, MORE THAN ANY OTHER I VISITED. THE FOOD WAS GOOD, BUT THAT HAS CHANGED TO NOT SO GOOD, THAT'S THE BEST WAY I CAN PUT IT. THIS MAY IMPROVE WHEN THE RENOVATION IS COMPLETE, BUT SOMEHOW I DOUBT IT. I BELIEVE THE FOOD BUDGET HAS BEEN CUT TO AN EXTREME, AND SOMETIMES THE FOOD IS NOT EATABLE. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE. IF IT DOESN'T THE OWNER'S WILL HAVE WASTED THEIR MONEY RENOVATING. THE RENOVATION IS NOT WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT OF A SENIOR LIVING PLACE IN PLACERVILLE. THIS IS COUNTRY, NOT SOUTHERN CA. WE LIKE COMFORT AND GOOD FOOD.

Food service at our resteraunt, delays and cold drinks and food
Sure could use a couple of simple microwaves to heat cold coffees and cold foods. We were told it is a health concern!? Also we have very large restaurant with time schedules for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Waiters are assigned to numbered tables. As a result, they are required to take orders at their tables only. Thus so often people are asking who is our waiter! Why cant waiters take orders on a first come basis?! They would still have table numbers. What is happenings, late comers are often fed first.

As part of our resident council, we appreciate that you are someone who cares about your home and wants to make a better life for everyone. What seems like a natural idea such as installing a microwave is not implementable in our community because it can be unsafe for some residents who could burn themselves. If you have a plate that needs to be reheated, feel free to ask the dining staff to do this for you. With regard to overall service, our system is similar to other restaurants in that servers are assigned to a specific section in the dining room. This way, servers know which tables that they are responsible for. That said, we do perform ongoing training as many of our servers are young people who do not have vast job experience. We also encourage all residents to attend our monthly food committee meetings where we discuss menu items and food service. Finally, you are welcome to speak about your concerns, at any time, with Dining Services Manager, Casey Moore or the Executive Director, Trisha Raines.

We are vegatarian and we have a hard time mainly due t not enough fresh vegetables and hardly any beans. Their soups and desserts are good. When "locked down" for COVID the food delivered was atrocious.

This unfair assessment of our food service needs to be corrected. We have many choices on the menu in addition to daily specials. Our chef has continued to provide more vegetarian options, though we currently only have eight vegetarian residents. And we always have a vegetarian soup daily. The reviewer mentioned a lock-down due to Covid which requires that we deliver meals to each resident apartment. When this happens, we are limited to offering only two options, which are packaged in reusable containers. We know that they are not as appetizing as eating a meal in the dining room.

- bed bug infestation - poor food quality - examples: too much salt, too much processed meats, not assistance for disabled diners at breakfast buffet so some people do without - housekeeping is minimal, no bed making - many broken air conditioners, etc

This low rating doesn’t accurately reflect our community as the issues stated need to be clarified. First, we aggressively respond to any potential bug issues. This is to isolate the problem as quickly as possible before it rises to the level of an infestation. Secondly, the breakfast buffet does not hamper disabled residents as there are two servers to wait on/assist residents who do not wish, for any reason, to get their food from the buffet. We also do not use salt when cooking. Third, all residents receive a basic housekeeping service once a week and this includes bed making for those that need the service. Finally, we continue to replace any broken air conditioning units, including those in the common areas. We would hope for a higher rating from this reviewer as she continues to visit regularly for activities and to eat lunch with friends, even though she no longer lives here.

Thank you for being a resident with us, even if for a short time. We can report positive developments that will improve your experience of living with us. For instance, we have a monthly food committee meeting with the Executive Director, the Chef and the Dining Services Director, whose goal is to improve our menu options and food service. Our maintenance department’s new goal is to respond to work orders in a timely manner. Over the past several months, our maintenance staff have been stretched thin during the transition from Comcast to DirectTV. Every day they assist 2–3 residents with TV and Internet support above and beyond their normal workload. As this conversion comes to a close, our response time will improve. Just so that you know, we respond to maintenance concerns 7-days-a-week.
