Good facility, great staff
The thing that makes Heritage Green so good is the staff. Friendly, helpful, professional and knowledgeable about memory care. It’s unfortunate to have to place a loved one in memory care, thank goodness there are professional staff and a secure facility as an option. And the people at Heritage Green are so easy to work with and understanding. They keep the facilities clean and secure and engage with the residents constantly. I appreciate everyone at Heritage Green.

A wonderful place to be!
My uncle lives here and really enjoys his time there. The staff are very caring and really passionate about elder care. When he moved in he was very depressed and antisocial and he has really began to find his happiness and voice again! I would definitely recommend!

Good care for my loved one.
My family member moved to Heritage Green and I have been pleased with the care. I toured several facilities in town and the home like atmosphere seemed like the right place. I also liked that the staff seemed to know all the residents. It’s clean and laundry is included.

Thankful for the care
My father in law went to Heritage Green this summer and we’ve been very pleased with the care. He has declined quickly and the staff there has taught us what to expect with someone with dementia. It’s comforting being able to leave and know he is being cared for. The food is always good and he gained a few pounds, which was needed. He doesn’t participate in many activities, but he enjoys watching.

Review for Heritage Green Lynchburg
Heritage Green encourages double occupancy rooms which can be difficult. The rooms are small, and therefore crowded; especially with wheelchairs or other necessities. Memory care (my stepmom) is highly recommend. Assisted Living (father) is moderate recommendation.

Stressful and traumatic
They need to know what their loved one has been diagnosed with and know what memory care is. It is not psychological therapy but, instead, is more baby sitting the patients. Also know how much staff are available at night . Also, there are no call bells in the memory care units putting patients with dementia at great risk for serious injury.
Response from Heritage Green and Daybreak
October 23, 2025
Our secure Daybreak neighborhood is designed for people with dementia and our team is specially trained to provide an environment that is safe, engaging and resident centered. We focus on what residents can do - not what they can't. Please reach out and speak to our Daybreak Director so we can include your thoughts on the personalized care plan. She can also reassure you that our team checks on residents all night long because many of our residents wouldn't be able to use a call bell.

Overall it's average
They do not come and watch for my mom to take a shower as much as we were told they would. At best, 2 times a week. They don't have all the activities that they told us they would have for the tenants, or they are not telling my mom about them if they are. And they don't clean the rooms as often as we were told they would. But the food has been good, above average. And my mom seems to like it and is getting adjusted well. Thanks. And we would like to remain anonymous please.

We are happy to hear that your mom is adjusting. I know that you emphasized wanting to remain anonymous, but I encourage you to talk with the Resident Life Director or Executive Director. I think some of our concerns could be addressed with some additional communication between you and our team.

Thanks for visiting! We are small compared to some of the larger, multi-level communities that are being built. However, most of our residents and families feel like our size is "just right" - with enough residents to make friends and find others with similar interests, but small enough to feel like family. We hope you find a community that is the 'perfect fit' for you!

A great way to preserve a loved one's independence
In the Lynchburg area, this facility came the most recommended by people we knew who had experiences at other places. So my [age removed] dad moved in back in January, and he has had a good experience. We would recommend Heritage Green to others.

Great people in a hard situation
Having my Mom go into memory care was never going to be easy. Heritage Green and the people there have done so much to make it a good as it can be. I actually tried three other places before arriving at Heritage Green. It’s the only place I found where everyone knew my Mom’s name, exactly where she was at all times, and how she was doing. I really can’t say enough about the care and great business practices at Heritage Green. I wish we had started here.

Highly Recommended
We moved my father into the memory care unit a little over a year ago. They took very good care of him until he passed the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In March/April it had become clear that my Mom was not going to be able to remain at home alone, and she moved into the Assisted Living wing. Mom liked the AL and settled there, but in the fall she caught COVID for the first time, which exacerbated her dementia. At the staff's recommendation, we moved her into Memory Care. She couldn't move in with Dad because by then he was mostly uncommunicative, so she went to a different wing. She's done very well there and has settled in. The place is quite clean and the staff friendly and caring. The food is excellent, and whenever we've visited the residents are all up and dressed, clean and groomed. I would highly recommend it.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Virginia’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Virginia’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Heritage Green and Daybreak 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
