Worked well for respite care
Worked for our need for short-term respite care (one month)- very accommodating of our short time frame. Staff & residents were kind. Park-like setting & large windows very soothing altho the building was older so had its challenges. For long term we needed a larger facility with more activity & food choices. Best part: they had an accessible soda machine for my occasional need for caffeine! Hours open good - think the front desk was "manned" until a reasonable 9:00PM. Worth a visit if comparing facilities - every facility will have its pros & cons just have to find the right balance.

As a physician, I was appalled with the care that my mother received. She was left for several hours while waiting for assistance to go to the restroom, placed in the shower with her clothes on, fell and hit her head in the middle of the night, left in the restroom and she ended up on the floor, handled aggressively, etc.

Parkwood has many amenities as the title suggests. Residents enjoy live music, crafts, ice cream social, and transportation to doctors within a short distance. Parkwood has many great things which includes great staff.

Review for Parkwood Community Parkwood has been a blessing for my mom! She’s thriving, making new friends, and rediscovering hobbies like reading and cross-stitching. [name removed] and [name removed], the wonderful coordinators, plan weekly events that bring joy, confidence, and routine to her days. The meals are delicious, and the nursing staff is kind, professional, and supportive. The aides consistently provide care with a smile, brightening every day. Moving from independent living to assisted living is a big adjustment; however, the staff at Parkwood - especially Laurel - showed great patience and kindness helping my mother get settled. The staff is friendly and helpful, giving Mom comfort and me reassurance.

I recently assisted my mother in transitioning to Parkwood Health Care, an assisted living facility. I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From the outset, the staff demonstrated exceptional compassion and professionalism. They took the time to understand my mother's needs, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for her. Additionally, the dining experience has been very positive, with delicious and nutritious meals. It is also a time when the residents can meet others and make new friends in this comfortable atmosphere. In a nutshell, Parkwood Health Care has made this transition smooth and positive for my family. I recommend Parkwood as a caring and supportive assisted living facility.

From the time I walked in the door there is nothing bad I can say about Parkwood, it feels like a home. The staff and residents smile and make you feel like they are happy and enjoy being there. I definitely enjoyed my time I spent taking a look around.

The rehab team works wonders to ensure patients return home stronger and safer. The nurses are nice and the activities are a nice touch when somebody has to be in rehab over the holidays. The receptionist greets everybody with a smile every day.

My mother has been at Parkwood for a week recovering from a fall/hip fracture. She was evaluated for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy within 24 hours of arriving at the facility. Mom's therapy has been intensive and she is making great gains. Therapists and caregivers have displayed patience with my mom and maintained an encouraging demeanor. Mom describes the food as "delicious," and the facility is clean, with pleasant common areas and an outdoor courtyard. Nurses and office staff have all been responsive to our questions. Mom hasn't yet felt up to participating in the activities, but we received a calendar and the offerings look varied and fun. I am glad that we selected Parkwood for my mother's rehabilitation after surgery.

From my first visit/tour, I had a good feeling about Parkwood. [Name removed] provided us with a tour and was great at answering all of my questions - during the first visit and thereafter. Once we decided to place my mom at Parkwood, the process to get her moved in was fairly smooth. Only had one major issue which was the fact that the room smelled due to the previous tenet. But, they made sure to get the carpet cleaned prior to my mom moving in. My mom has been there a week and is still settling in. But, she has not had any complaints and seems happy to be there. Some of the reasons we chose Parkwood Assisted Living: 1) It’s a smaller community of residents 2) everyone was friendly on our visit and many of their employees have worked there for an extended time. 3) I appreciate the ”one price for all services” structure. 4) If my mom needs additional care down the road - memory or skilled nursing, it’s just a move to another area of the same building.
