Now, 16 months later, we have moved here into [community removed] in MB, another great stepping stone for her, and in the next 15 months she hopefully is ready to purchase her own home in the MB area.\nOne step at a time. My mother situation is unquie, just as each one is their own situation.\nMy mother is 70 years old and really just had to regain her Independence in life after 48 years of marriage with my fathers sudden death. Now she has a spacious one bedroom apartment in independent living that accommodates her baby grand piano, communal meals in a lovely dining room with restaurant style service, multiple activities and personal care services including physical therapy right in the building, a beautiful salt water pool on the grounds, as well as transportation to local shopping, dining, and entertainment. This is most definitely an upscale senior community. I live just 4 minutes away so am in and out all the time and always find the staff friendly and professional and residents warm and welcoming. I highly recommend Portside and frankly, think I should have looked into it sooner as my mom's mood and even cognitive abilities seemed to improve due to socialization. I also took my widowed group to tour and one gentlemen moved in right away. He seems happier and more relaxed. Living alone, eating alone, even watching movies at home alone takes its toll and then there is the fear many seniors have of a health emergency and no one around to help.
