They have addressed issues such as men entering Mom's room by having the men moved to the other side of the facility instead in close proximity to female-occupied rooms as it was previously.\nThe Activity Director, [name removed], is very actively engaged in keeping all the residents happy, learning, and socializing.\nI call The Cottages everyday and sometimes twice daily to speak with my mom, and [name removed] in administration, is ALWAYS cheerful to receive my calls and take the phone to my mom.\nThe nurse is great about administering Mom's meds on a consistent schedule and is so kind in the process.\nThe only criticism I have is that Mom has fallen several times with the two falls resulting in hospital stays--one for a head injury requiring stitches and one for a broken hip. There is no call button in Mom's room for when she needs assistance going to the bathroom or a pull cord in the bathroom if she needs help. <h3>State Classification</h3>
<p>The Cottages at Quail Creek is a <em>Type B assisted living facility</em>. In the state of Texas, these terms are defined as follows:</p>
<h4>Assisted Living Facility</h4>
<p>A facility that provides personal care services and administration of medication to 4 or more residents. Assisted living facilities can accept residents with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s. There are 3 types of assisted living facilities:</p>
<p></p><dl><dt>Type A:</dt><dd>A facility that may provide room and board to residents who are physically and mentally capable of evacuating the facility unassisted.</dd><br>
<dt>Type B:</dt><dd>A facility that may provide room and board to residents who need assistance evacuating, are incapable of following directions under emergency conditions, require staff attendance during nighttime sleeping hours, and require assistance transferring to and from a wheelchair.</dd><br>
<dt>Type C (Adult Foster Care):</dt><dd>Four-bed facilities that meet the minimum standards and rules for enrollment in the Department of Aging and Disability Services’ Adult Foster Care home program. The facility provides supervision and personal care services to residents.</dd></dl><p></p>
