The dining room food is always hot and fresh. I enjoy the food options available. There is a new chef and the menu is improving daily. My apartment is small, however, it does have a patio and yard for my dog. I find the staff to be courteous and helpful. The maintenance crew is there to assist in hanging pictures, moving furniture and helping with whatever I need done. The Oscar appears to be well maintained by the cleaning crew. Trash is always removed. There are lots of activities to keep you busy. This includes arts, card games, exercise programs, movies, live music and get togethers. I am happy with my surroundings at The Oscar.

Review for The Oscar at Georgetown
Higher level staff has been great. AL part wasn't a great experience mainly due to care staff, so I'd rate that portion a 3-3.5. But a move to Memory Care recently and it has been a better fit and we're very pleased with everything. It's been a 4-5 (Memory Care)

I was met by the Sales and Marketing Director. My visit included a tour of the dining areas, mail room and Memory Care Center. I asked to see a first floor apartment and was taken to one thst was furnished to get an idea of size and placement of furniture. The Oscar was buzzing that day as a Christmas extravaganza was in the making. The place was very clean and organized. This could be a great place for someone who wants to live independently and still have human contact.

Very Negative Assisted Living Experience
The Oscar is a beautiful facility and was great for independent living. However, after moving my mother from independent to assisted living things went downhill quickly. They failed to give her three different prescription medications over a period of several weeks which quite possibly impacted both her health and her behavior. Discovering this led me to start electronic monitoring (with their knowledge) where I discovered other issues. They failed to follow through with agreed upon resolutions to some of my concerns, even after updating the care plan to address issues. They refuse to provide complete medication administration records. These issues and more made me choose to move my mother after only six and a half months there. Upon move out they failed to give me all of my mother’s medications and in fact gave me medications belonging to another resident! I had to return to the facility to straighten out their mistakes and get the medications belonging to her.

Am in A/L. Food is brought up from kitchen on first floor. Has improved some. Mostly lukewarm and not menu for older people with disabilities. They need to hire more qualified people.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Texas’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Texas’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored The Oscar at Georgetown 8.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies.
