Getting her transferred was a little rough and could've been smoother, but otherwise we are happy with the choice. Thank you for all the help. Have all medications and Dr change totally set up. And complete list of linen, towels and toiletries needed.

On the surface, The Reserve at East Longmeadow looks like a beautiful, high-end facility. But once my mother became a resident in the memory care unit, it became clear that the level of care was far below what any family should accept for a loved one. The nursing staff showed no compassion. They were simply medication dispensers — no meaningful interaction with residents at all. I never once saw a nurse check in on my mother, ask how she was doing, or even speak to her beyond handing her pills. Staff were supposed to check on her every hour, but they didn’t. She was left alone in her room for hours at a time. Eventually, she fell while trying to go to the bathroom by herself and fractured a vertebrae. Even before the fall, she was often left in her room during mealtimes. I had to call and ask staff to go get her because she was hungry. After the fall, she could no longer feed herself, but staff still left her alone during meals.

Needs more than just looks
The tour is exactly that what you see is not what you end up with. Snack time are if someone feels like it. The rooms are not cleaned . Personal supplies are used for others .Food is served cold 80% of the time completely ignoring a residents dislikes of certain foods noted several times. Nothing is personal there completely inappropriate especially the rude head care director! I got mom in a emergency was good from [dates removed] then complete downtown for care and medication distribution is not on schedule as they claim. I went every day i seen a lot of inappropriate things so we moved out immediately to a much better location.my mom has become more active and vocal her happiness is all the matters..

Our family's experience
Last half of mom's time there was very poor, especially in memory care. Well it was wonderful in the beginning but things changed about 5-6 months in. Not sure if they had changed administration . People seemed to leave nursing included. [name removed] , I believe the only nurse left was absolutely wonderful and dedicated to his patients but otherwise it was agency nurses, when mom passed he moved on as well. The attendants that were there in the beginning I knew a couple that Were still there were wonderful , and then it seemed like there wasn't enough help. Many of the times her garbage wasn't emptied and her bed wasn't made when I went in which I did myself that was fine. At one time mOm had asked to go down to the dining room in her wheelchair because she was weak and tired, and the attendant who was nobody, I knew I don't know who she was, told mOm it would cost more money to go down in the wheelchair. And my mother-in-law was always very thrifty so she would not ask to go down in the wheelchair.MOm had to move to memory care because she was falling more and was confused sometimes and I was very discouraged with the care [name removed] the nurse was there and he was very attentive. He's attentive to all the patients. It wasn't clean most of the time I would have to ask when I would go in if there was someone that could help to clean the toilet and the bathroom The bathroom is shared. but it just wasn't kept up and cleaned very infrequently. She had a rug in her room and I know her furniture was there but at one point I went down to speak to the front desk mOm needed the rug vacuumed She had a tendency to eat crackers and things like cracker crumbs, and cookie crumbs would end up on the floor. I think the worst part was in memory care. They don't have a pendant and mOm was too weak at that point and a couple of times when she called to get someone to come in because she had chest pain she would call out and of course no one would answer and she would force herself to go down and see if the nurse was there, and they told her they couldn't give her any medication because there was no nurse and she suffered with chest pain all night! I had a discussion with the Director that I knew that if they had called the EMTs they would've given mom her nitroglycerin, but that didn't happen and mom didn't trust anybody anymore and neither did I because there is no nurse there at night And if the attendants don't know to call the ambulance or the EMTs, who's training them! I thought a a lot about the reserve, but I don't know what happened things just were not good when we left. We were very disappointed. I was always telling people how wonderful of a place it was when we first went there pretty much in the end. I didn't speak about it at all because I was so disappointed.

They told us these're fully prepared to accomadate my mother's gluten free diet- not true at all. Chef reportedly was never notified and they still don't have it right and are not helpful with it. Director and nursing director have not responded to to texts or emails- disappointing.

High Cost, Low Care
We decided to move my parents there because of the beautiful campus and open restaurant policy. However, after 7 weeks we are moving them to another community. The Reserve has not been a partner in care with my family. They are the highest priced option by far in the area. We were willing to pay more if it meant exceptional care. My mother was in memory care. Her adjustment was very challenging and met with no compassion from the head nurse. Her room is often filthy. My father in assisted living has been hospitalized 5 times in the past 7 days. Each time he was discharged a nurse was there to immediately reevaluate him to increase his cost of care levels, not to check on him and his well-being. This place has $$ in their eyes. I met with admin and management several times. Perhaps the new LCB management has shifted focus. I am so angry that we are forced to move my vulnerable parents again. So many promises were made that were not kept.

Good value for the money
It was more affordable than most others, clean and conveniently located. There seems to be a lot of turnover in administration and staffing issues in the food area causing long waiting.

Dad is happy
My Dad has been a resident in the Reserve’s memory care unit for [date removed]. He is benefiting greatly from the caring staff that provides regular medication management, meals and housekeeping. The facility is beautiful and kept very clean. Their Sales & Marketing Director is absolutely wonderful and has treated us like family since day one. Management has changed recently, but my initial interactions with the new administration have been positive.

Compassionate Care in a Clean and Welcoming Environment
The Reserve at East Longmeadow has been a wonderful place for my grandmother. The staff genuinely cares about the residents and treats them with kindness and respect, which means so much to our family. Before choosing The Reserve, we toured other facilities in the area, and this one stood out as the cleanest—it didn’t have any unpleasant odors, and instead, it smells like pine trees, which my grandmother loves. That small detail makes it feel more like home for her. She is always busy with activities that keep her engaged, and she’s been socializing more than ever. The facility is always clean and well-maintained, making visits comfortable and reassuring. It’s such a relief to know she’s in a safe and supportive environment where she’s happy and well cared for.

If you are exploring options for Senior Living look no further than The Reserve in East Longmeadow, MA. They are in a league of their own for senior living in wmass. Our Dad has been living there for a year and his overall health has improved physically and cognitively since moving there. Your first step should be to call [name removed]. She is an incredible resource to speak to on your first phone call or visit. She is the Director of Sales & Marketing. She was a pivotal reason why we moved forward originally. Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Massachusetts’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Massachusetts’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
