Highly recommend

Staff is friendly and helpful. They treated my mom with love and kindness like she was their own family. They really did treat us like family. They had great communication throughout the entire process. My mom went into hospice and sadly passed the end of November. But she was happy when she was there and alert. Very well taken care of. We will miss them. Level of service is outstanding.

Review for The Rivers at Puyallup

Management staff very business like, available to answer questions. Seems the focus is to keep the rooms full. Care staff are courteous and helpful in all areas of need. Sometimes a little slow to respond to a call, but there are a lot of people to care for. Medical staff very good. A lot of activities daily. Good at posting them and plenty of participation. Food is plentiful, three meals each day, but available anytime on request. Each meal lasts for an hour and a half, plenty of time to arrive in the dining room. Meals also can be delivered to your room. Each room is cleaned once a week. The staff will provide laundry service once a week. I only saw a one bedroom apartment, the room mom was in. It was roomy and laid out well with a small kitchenette. Overall opinion, one to ten, I would say seven. Mom passed on [Date Removed].

Our Family's Experience

I would say 4. I'm pretty hard on ratings because it leaves from for improvement. The location I selected has been great overall. Few small items like food isn't amazing but just ok. My MIL still cooks and eats in her own as she is not a social person. We had to move my FIL to a group family home due to his unique challenges but the director of the facility my MIL is still as was amazing at helping us navigate the situation. Overall it provided me with a jumping off point and I still did tons of my own research.

Be sure you go with your loved one to the care assessment !

The salesperson was really nice and helpful. However she was singing a rosy picture that did not match the facility or the rest of a lot if staff. This was a year ago and I hope it has improved. I made contact with corporate a short time after [facility removed] moved in. They were padding the care and refusing to make changes as we were assured they would. That issue got resolved real fast, at least for [facility removed] . Call lights seldom get answered within an hour much less the 15 minutes we were told. Laundry gets forgotten and/or lost frequently. I have stayed completely out of the mess since then as I felt guilty for leading them there.

Good Experience So Far

My sister in law had some challenges with communication for getting a hair appointment. She decided to take mom back to her outside hair salon after not hearing back. I requested a simple nail be put in the wall of her room. The person I asked sent me to see maintenance guy who then told me to go up front to tell the same story all over again to the front desk person so a work order could be written. Good feedback for the staff I saw interaction with mom during our recent visits. I have no feedback to share on food/dining experience. Menu I saw looked nice but I have no feedback on meal quality.

Smooth and easy transfer

I recently moved my dad from a peagus community in Sun city, Arizona to The Rivers in Puyallup also a peagus community. The transfer could not have gone any better. The staff at The Rivera have been so helpful, friendly and supportive. My dad has adjusted very well and I know that is greatly due to the staff at The Rivers. The community is clean and the food is good too. I’ve tasted it my self. I would recommend The Rivers to anyone looking for an assisted living community for their loved one. We could not be happier or more pleased with our choice.

Review of “The Rivers”

The Rivers is the second assisted living facility I have been in since moving to Washington. I moved here in 2024 to be with residents closer to my age and physical ability! I have found The Rivers to be a warm and friendly place to live with activities, arts and crafts, games, and stimulating staff willing to help us be our best selves! Our families are encouraged to join us for some holiday celebrations. We are free to go on walks if we choose. There are shopping trips, outings, church runs, and medical appointments as long as they are within ten miles of our residence. We have movies available twice a day and participate in Jeopardy, Trivia (with other Pegasus facilities) and Spintopia. In addition we have informative videos regarding Dementia every other mouth by a psychologist/counselor. Very good information. Our families are given the site so they can watch, as well. Everything is set up to help us function happily, safely, and comfortably in our senior years.

[name removed] is wonderful, of course, she is sales.

[name removed] was excellent. She helped bring the costs down as much as any of the assisted living places would. The meeting with the person who "helped you decide on needed cares did not explain that once you picked a care , you could never remove it or it's charge. We were told that care needs could fluctuate but obviously only to their financial advantage. We were adamant she did not want to be awakened/ checked on at night. We later saw it on the charges & she tried to say we were just trying to reduce the cost. I am an RN. The cares are being padded so you better ask for the minimum & only add later if essential. She needs help dressing, hearing aids, & opening the heavy room door. Pays for but seldom gets. Front desk is often unattended. Drs visits are limited, I believe 9-1 one day per week. She loves the place as "all the girls are so sweet ". So she keeps giving her things to them. We are trying to get her to stop. Most importantly the care seems good, the food is good

They are the perfect fit for my husband

I needed a place for my husband to be taken care of while he was continuing to recover from brain surgery. I looked at many and called various others with no luck. I got positive response from the Rivers. Went there to discuss placing him there and looking the place over. I was very pleased with what they have to offer and the tour of the facility was wonderful. I have a place for him at the Rivers.

Great facility

The Rivers at Puyallup Assisted Living and Memory Care is truly an exceptional community. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that residents feel cared for, supported, and part of a welcoming family. The engaging activities, personalized care, and thoughtful programs show how much effort is put into enriching the lives of everyone here. The community is always clean, warm, and inviting, and the dining options are excellent—making mealtime something to look forward to. It’s clear that the team prioritizes not only the physical well-being of residents but also their emotional and social needs. Whether it’s the compassionate memory care or the vibrant assisted living programs, The Rivers at Puyallup sets a high standard for senior living. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place where their loved ones will be treated with dignity, respect, and genuine care.

Dad is happy, I'm happy

I'd say the staff is pretty friendly with my dad, he even made friends with one of them. Facility offered all types of services if any type of care needed to be changed, of the places I visited, this was the best bang for the buck. My dad seems pretty contempt with where he is at.

Review for The Rivers at Puyallup

I would tell a friend to stay away. The leadership at the Rivers is dreadful. I have never dealt with anybody so lazy, dishonest, untruthful, and as irresponsible as [name removed]. He blew me off for 3 months while I was trying to get my final invoice. When I finally got ahold of him, he lied to me by telling me that my bill was all paid up and then sent me to collections. He repeatedly told me he was going to look into things or fix this or that and never did anything he said he would do. Also make sure you read the contract. I had to pay rent at that place for 30 days after my dad died because of a clause in the contract about giving notice. My dad died in May of 2023 and I just now (11 months later) got the mess from the Rivers all untangled.

Great value

Facility is older but kept in decent condition, and we have not met any staff members who were less than pleasant. More variety on the food - they have a variety of options for each meal on a (weekly?) rotation basis, but they are all pretty basic and get boring over time.
