Sitting right next to a park and trails, American House Somerset modernizes memory care and assisted living. Seniors can feel at home in the studio, 1-, and 2-bedroom apartments. Some apartments include a spacious walk-in closet. An aquatic center, golf course, restaurants, and lakes are within 5 miles of the community.
Seniors receive round-the-clock care and can live at ease knowing each apartment has built in alert systems for emergencies. The memory care team is certified by the Alzheimer’s Association. A classy restaurant-style dining experience with a booth area serves nutritious, chef-prepared meals. Scheduled community outings allow residents to explore the city by having lunch at a local restaurant or going shopping together.

From the moment you walk in, you can feel how warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring the environment is. The team goes above and beyond every day—whether it’s answering questions, offering support, or creating meaningful moments for residents. The staff is attentive, patient, and truly invested in the residents’ well-being. The building is always clean, the activities are engaging, and you can tell the residents feel safe, supported, and at home. If you're exploring senior living options, I highly recommend stopping in for a visit. The leadership and team at American House Somerset are exceptional, and their commitment to quality care really sets the community apart. I see Somerset having a very friendly and helpful staff, up and down. The facility is clean and well maintained. My elderly is at the right spot. I am however noticing the staff, except for the site director, responds slowly where I find myself following up with an email. If that doesn't work, then I call. I don't know if they're overwhelmed or what's happening. I have noticed the same trend from the rehab units not affiliated with this facility and wonder if it's typical of the industry. The site director does respond timely. If she doesn't know the answer, she'll acknowledge my email and will get back to me. Despite the communication issues, I do recommend this facility .

The activities are fabulous. There is never a dull moment and something fantastic to attend daily. Musicians come in once or twice a week and once a month there is a full on party with entertainment in the main lobby. The staff gets to know the residents well and attends to their anticipated needs . I have been cognizant of tasks that I can take care of, and relieve staff of unnecessary things that may take more time than I thought like contacting the house doctors or relaying info and /or resolving small issues. We are extremely satisfied and happy we moved my mom here!

The food needs much improvement. The menu makes it sound very interesting. When in reality, the food is often bland, overcooked, and no longer warm when it is served. Service is difficult due to lack of staffing. I believe that the residents would be happier if they had something to look forward to at dinner time.

Overall my mom is very happy at American House Somerset and has made a ton of friends. She also feels like the directors take her concerns seriously and do their best to address what is necessary :) She did say that the food is not often cooked correctly and they do not have as many choices as she would like.

If you don't have memory problems, don't move into a memory care facility. They lock you in. It's jail. No one wants to be here. They institutionalize you right away. There's no autonomy, no privacy, no respect. Everyone complains about the sub-standard food. New unskilled aides every week. And it's fine. Beautiful landscaping and 10' ceilings. It's pretty much as good as any other place.

I would recommend the friend check it out and make sure it's within their budget. My loved has only been there for about three months so ask me a few months from now. The one area I am somewhat concerned is if the new ownership makes any changes to services. They said the right things when the senior management team was introduced to the residents and care givers back in March. So far, they are living up to their word and have not made any drastic changes.

The tour was impressive and moved my cherished loved one in. On my first visit I was disappointed that the nursing aides were sitting around on their cell phones and eating take out in the patient common areas and this continues to be the standard. You have to be let in to memory care and the nurse aides sit there and won't answer the bell and sit around when you want to be let out. They say they have a chef and the food in the brochure is not what is served. The food isn't appetizing and my loved one would often complain about it. I took pictures of some of the food served because it was bad. Seemed to not care about nutrition in my loved one's case. I had to clean the bathroom and floor often and change the sheets on my own because I gave up on the staff keeping the room clean and tidy. This made me sad. Never received any updates on the healthcare, weight, water intake. Loved one had Covid and couldn't visit. No one called to let us know how loved one was doing.

Overall, the experience has been good. However, my mom is low vision, and the facility doesn't do much to accommodate lighting and activities for this particular issue.

This is a good place. Sometimes feels like my loved ones in memory care could use more attention from staff to assist with finding lost items, dressing, and more. Some of the activities include therapeutic art, planet earth exploration, aroma therapy, music, hot coca bar, wine down Wednesday, and more for the residents to participate in.

This facility was way to nice and overly fancy for my loved one. My loved one is just not that person that wants that feeling. My loved one is more into the rustic feeling. This was a nice facility however, similar to a five star hotel.

Our family had an in person tour and the experience was good, the community was starting to open back up. We still had to wear masks and social distance. We were able to walk around and had a good feel for it, but we just wanted a smaller community setting for our loved one.

So thankful we found Anthology. After being somewhere else that was a disaster, the whole family was able to sit back & relax. We chose Anthology for the location, cleanliness & freedom to visit according to State Covid Protocol. They did a through job keeping track of guesst, visitor Covid tests & quarantine when necessary. The staff (Management, Health Assessors, Main Desk, Nurses, Janitorial, Maintenance , Dinning, Therapy, Activities...) are all as sweet as can be, which is very important, but they also follow all of the rules. [name removed], the pleasant & very organized, manager, gave me her contact info & assured me I could call her anytime, She would immediately reply, which was such a difference from the last place mom stayed. It took a few days for mom to make her way out of her room, but once she did, she made many friends & loved the activities. Legacy in house PT OT & exercise class was an absolute blessing. Unlike other therapy places, they didn't give up on my mom.
