The staffing level in the memory unit, in my opinion, was inadequate. Having been a full time caregiver for my wife, I know how much work it is. Even though they met standards for caregivers per resident, from the perspective of residents there was not the personal attention the residents require for living the best possible. Many of the caregivers in the memory unit did not speak English as a first language. This should not be taken as meaning to diminish their ability or desire to provide care. All were concerned for the welfare of the residents. And provided good care. The issue I observed was that it is not ideal when working with people who have cognitive disabilities and difficulty understanding instructions or requests. The juice dispenser was empty of some drinks for a few days and completely empty for a few more days. The last week and a half my wife was there, many people were having interviews with the manager.
