Feels like home
They were very kind here at Brookdale. He has succumbed to his chronic illness suddenly in February. But his time there was much more pleasant than where he was previously. He even called it home, which he never did for his previous place, even though he was there much longer.

They had a really good chef but he took a job somewhere else. The one they have now sucks. The residents and families have been complaining to management but so far he hasn't replaced him.

Review for Brookdale Tyler East
I didn't like Brookdale....Their staff wasn't the best. The food was not what I would feed to my dogs. The building had lots of issues as well as water leaking all the time. The "activities" for the residents were very childish. And 90%of the residents were "memory care" residents. Only one other resident that was able to engage in conversation with my loved one.

We've been here for 6 Months Now
I want to brag on [name removed] the maintenance man and [name removed] the caregiver. [name removed] is so knowledgeable and helpful, he helps anytime we need anything. [name removed] works so hard, helpful, checks on us, does anything we ask, always makes sure we're okay. They are great.

I actually live here
I came to Brookdale in early 2016. I have made this my home away from home. The Bible tells us to be satisfied and thankful in whatever state we are in. I thank God for Brookdale that one day someone had this vision for Seniors.

1: Facility is old and needs major upgrades. The plumbing and drainage leaks all over the building flooding several rooms every few days. The windows all leak around the baseboards, drawing ants and roaches. For the first 2 months mother had large carpenter Ants and large Roaches in her room. On one occasion I counted 123 ants on the floor and IN HER BED!! 2: As part of the services provided to my mother; room cleaning once a week consisted of vacuuming her floor in the middle. NOTHING ELSE! 3: An actual positive! The staff was always nice and friendly. 4: Mother needed little actual care; she did fall on one occasion and it took the staff an hour to answer her "emergency pull cord" She was not injured just needed help to get off the floor. 5: again staff was ok 6: Meals were a joke! No dedicated cook! Staff did all the cooking, serving meals I would not feed to my dogs. When asking for a simple over easy egg, mother could only get a well done one. Toast was soggy and inedible. My mother had to purchase noodles, hot dogs and sandwich supplies to get a decent meal. 7: My mother is [number removed]. She has mobility issues but still has a bright and clear mind. All inhouse activities were geared toward memory care and very simple for residents like her. 8: For us the value was just not there. These are the reasons I elected to bring her home. I hope this helps.

I would recommend
All of the staff members were extremely friendly and helpful to us and were very professional, we really appreciated that. It is very expensive, there are some add on fees in the beginning that make the cost go up and it was a big shock to us. Their hospice group was really good and they took great care of her. Overall we would recommend Brookdale to other families who are looking.

Not pleased with our experience
We chose Brookdale Tyler East at the time because I really liked the people I was dealing with, they were very sweet and made me feel comfortable. They gave us a tour virtually and showed us the courtyard and we were able to peek into the rooms, so we got a better look inside the facility than the others we saw. They said that I would be able to continue to come in once a week as a provider so that was important as well. They had nursing changes and then the new nurse was telling me I would not be able to come in which was frustrating and the rules were changing. I think that care providers need to be updated on the rules and then there needs to be communication about those rules between staff members. There were a couple occasions I was displeased with a certain staff member and his care towards my loved one. There was one time I was later than normal and when I went to leave I have to have someone let me out, I called many times and walked around and there was no one in sight. I called the director and no one ever called me back. It took me 20 minutes before I could get out. Overall, due to our experience, I would not recommend to others who are looking.

Well kept facility
The reason why I picked this facility for my Mother is because they were able to provide services other people couldn’t offer. My mom really likes it here and it’s a nice facility. The staff members here treat her very well. My mom’s room is large and spacious and she even has a window overlooking the courtyard. I would recommend this facility to other families.

5 star Staff Team
My brother likes the place a lot. My other brother is there now and they both like the food that they provide in the dining area. It’s really good and the menu changes daily. Both of my brothers are totally happy with it. The staff alone I would rate them a five star team. They also do a good job with their cleanliness. They provided plenty of activities however since the majority of the residents are women it is more specially tailored to them. There are about 3-4 men at most and they all seem to get along fine. Overall I would recommend this location to other families looking for somewhere for their loved one.

Everyone felt like family
Everything was going fine when my mom was there. Everyone that works there has been very professional. My experience with them has been great but my mom just needs to be in a memory care unit which is something that they don’t provide. The staff really feels like family and I don’t think I have anything bad to say about them. My mom thought the facility was so beautiful; she would always talk about how it must be more expensive because of how fancy it is. The facility itself has a lock down unit, meaning she couldn’t just walk out the door if she wanted to so that added some security and peace of mind for us because she was prone to just leaving and getting lost. There were a few times when she wouldn’t eat and the cook took the time to actually make her private breakfasts just to make sure she would eat. Everything was kept clean and it didn’t have a bad smell or anything like that, it was very nice. I would definitely recommend them.

Getting through a difficult decision
I just recently had to make the decision to move my mother from our home to assisted living. This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I have had the primary care of my mother without help from my only brother. Just presenting my mom with this decision was so hard on her and me. This assisted living facilities met and exceeded my expectations. All mother could imagine was a nursing home and all the experiences she had with her parents-she resisted this move and change in her life. She felt as if we were "dumping" her! My husband and I both work long hours and just could not provide mother with the proper care that she needed based on her aging and declining health. Every staff member at Brooksdale was so kind to her and made her feel welcome. The residents were also so so so kind and welcomed her with warm hearts. Mother has decided that this is where she wants to be until she dies! Such warm people - staff and residents. This has been something not easily done but the outcome has been such a lift because in less than a month she loves her new life and has people her age and her caretakers are ALL so sweet to her. She is made to feel special and I can have peace of mind. I will be so grateful for Brooksdale for solving our problem! Thank you!

Care for mom
I am happy with the care here. The staff is helpful and attentive. The community is the clean and nice environment for care. The menu could use some improvements. I like that she is involved with the other residents in the activities that are offered for the residents who like to participate. We would recommend this community for the care and the value for a family member
