Gracemont Senior Living is a senior community located on the northern border of Georgia in the town of Cumming. Gracemont is located in a lightly populated rural countryside that is dotted with small forests and neighbors Dunroven Lake. Definitely Not Recommend
The cleanliness of the dining room gets a 2, I had my own villa which I kept clean. Mostly ignored by staff. There are very little activities and in 2023 rent increase 12% (fee removed monthly) 2024 rent increase 7% (fee removed monthly) As rent increased, quality went down. At one point I had rats outside my villa & it took 3 weeks before Oaks got rid of them! PLEASE don't recommend this place to anyone. When I left there were 9 empty villas. Those of us who could afford to get out did. I feel so bad for those still there.

Terrible care and customer service
Last year their sprinkler system broke and flooded multiple units. Many were displaced for months with no communication or care from The Oaks.
Currently the water has been shut off for days no communication or info to residents. Days with out toilets that flush, showers, or drinking water. Not a word from The Oaks.
If you have a senior who you love please do not send the here this is a huge bait and switch scam and you will be sorely disappointed like we are!!

Definitely Recommended
My loved one has been a resident at Oaks at Gracemont for quite some time. Overall, our experience with this facility has been great. I've eaten there with my mom and the meals have been good. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The quality of care and the staff are also great. I would definitely recommend this facility to family and friends.

The reality of "Chef Prepared Menus" at Gracemont
My Mother lives there, in independent living. When she moved in back in [date removed] the restaurant was fully staffed and the food was impressive, but then came Covid 19 and the ensuing staff shortages, reductions in the dining schedule and most importantly the quality of the food went so far downhill that to call it Chef prepared is quite the joke among the residents and this dining room has yet to recover. I ate with my mother last week and she was served a plate with a scoop of dry mashed potatoes, overcooked string beans, and salisbury steak with a gravy that was full of mysterious bubbles that reminded me of fermentation. It was Morrison's Cafeteria on a bad day. Perhaps Oaks will improve the situation in time, but after many months there is no indication of that. The menu may be Chef Prepared, but the food certainly is not. It's shameful that the new brochure is so untruthful about the food, and for nearly $[removed]/week to experience "Chef Prepared"! Good gravy, Oaks, you can do better.

We toured Oaks at Gracemont and had a great tour experience & first impression. We chose another community because it was 2 miles away, and my dad preferred to be in closer proximity than where Oaks at Gracemont was located.

It's a Good Choice
The staff are very friendly here. The communication and follow through on requests from maintenance could be improved. The residents that participate in the activities are friendly to us.
Breakfast is good, and lunch is on the skinny side. The community doesn't provide dinner. The quality of the food could be improved, along with portion sizes and the variety of food offered.
The apartments in independent living have a full kitchen in them. I believe the community should give the residents a choice of meals they would like or if they want the meal plan at all.

Physical Therapy
Be very aware of their physical therapy services. Their staff will tell you they have had your PT approved and your copay total will be a "nominal amount " and give you a price which is not even close to the ridiculous bill they send. Then they try to tell you your insurance is out of network. ( The same one they say was pre-approved.)
I would advise residents to get PT outside of this facility.

Activities
The recreation department is non existent for a majority of residents, memory impaired wonders around asking for help to get out. No music no art no nothing! One day there was music in the main room and no one from recreation came to take anyone. The cleaning lady wheeled out a couple of people well after it started. Thank you to her.
It's a crying shame, mentally to all those trapped in their and the poor aids who could use some mental health from these poor souls.

Great choice for mother!
I would like to recognize [name removed] for all of the help she gave me when I was dealing with my mother. I moved her in yesterday and [name removed] did a fantastic job making her feel comfortable and at home. She also did an excellent job locating and setting up her room for a respite stay. The facility is clean, bright and welcoming. The residents also are very happy to be there and joined in to welcome my mother to the community. I would not hesitate to recommend Gracemont Cumming for anyone who appreciates what it takes to make aging parents feel good about this difficult but necessary next step in life's journey. Our family could not speak more highly of the director and her staff at Gracemont. My mom was fortunate to be living there for almost 6 years, your facility is truly one of the best places of caregivers for the residents their love and compassion shows how all should be treated.

Friendly staff and happy residents!
Overall I think they do a good job at Gracemont Assisted Living. The staff here are friendly and professional, and they work hard looking after the residents. They do, however, seem a bit understaffed at times. All of the residents I have met seem happy and content. I have had a few issues with their billing service, more than once I have received invoices with incorrect amounts on them.
