Great choice, would recommend

My dad loved it there, and they treated him well. This was when it was Harpeth at Harmony Hills. I understand that the programming has changed significantly now. Unfortunately, the price for respite care has doubled, so he won't be going back.

Review for The Harpeth at Harmony Hills

My dad was in hospice at Harmony at Harpeth Hills, and although his time there was short, the care he received was truly exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was attentive, compassionate, and incredibly kind—not only to him, but to our entire family during such a difficult time. Their warmth, patience, and genuine care brought us so much comfort in his final days. We are deeply grateful for the love and support they showed us, and we will always remember how special they made that time. God bless the team at Harmony at Harpeth Hills.

Kind and caring staff

Dropping my mom off at memory care was one of the most painful and heartbreaking things I have ever had to do, and it nearly destroyed my dad. The staff was so kind during the transition, keeping in constant contact those first few days, and lending a lot of wonderful support. That really meant a lot to us. My mom had a very hard time with the transition as well. She was frightened in her room. She didn't want to be alone, so they allowed her to sleep in the main lobby area for several nights. And then we were discussing moving her room to see if it would make her more comfortable. I cannot say enough good things about how hard the staff worked to try and keep her comfortable.

Our experience

A huge dissappointment

I strongly caution against using this facility. During the initial contract review, the company presented terms that seemed clear and reasonable. However, when it came time to settle the bill, they contradicted those terms, demanding payment that didn’t align with our prior discussions. This bait-and-switch approach also extended to their care and attention to detail, which was severely lacking and fell far short of expectations. I would not entrust a loved one to this facility, even if it were free. Avoid at all costs. If you must consider this place, record your initial conversations and take the contract home to review thoroughly before committing.

Review for The Harpeth at Harmony Hills

[name removed] the Executive Director is great to work with. The staff is very nice. I love that there is always someone in the living room any time the residents are there (memory care). The building is nice and welcoming. The activities director seems to love her job. My mom has only been there for a few months and she really likes it. Last year they came under new management and they seems to be doing a good job.

Beautiful Facilities but understaffed

The facilities were beautiful, homey, and clean. The food was great and the food staff were awesome and caring. We spent all day and evening there so we were able to get a good view of the daily routines. The care givers were nice but on their phones and disengaged with residents a lot of the time. The activities director was awesome and had great activities planned for the residents! The nurses were nice but understaffed and they changed so much it was hard to get any consistency in knowing about each patient's current needs.

The Harpeth at Harmony Hills review

I'll just say what I heard my dad say often which was he didn't feel like there was much "medical attention" he was given. I'm not sure if he was expecting more of a hospital type environment where he was constantly getting blood pressure checked and vitals or what but that's just the phrasing he used. In general, we were very pleased with the room, and we thought it was a very peaceful environment. I'm very grateful I chose the Harper for my dad to spend his last two months of life.

Staff

Staff is friendly and caring. Director is very competent and tries hard to make sure everyone is well taken care of. The only criticism and concern I have is that in my opinion there’s not enough caregivers on duty to take care of all the needs of the patients.

We have had an excellent experience with my Mom’s care at Symphony. The staff from top to bottom is caring, informative and I truly believe they love and are passionate about caring for the elderly in new stages of life. They listen to my concerns and communicate very effectively what they see with my Mom. The workers and residents seem happy to be where they are and it has been a blessing for our family knowing my Mom is taken care of!

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Tennessee’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Tennessee’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
